Stephen HParticipant
The liberal outrage is coming to other cities too. There’s going to be protest against Trump in Portsmouth, for example, on June 5th. A flyer/leaflet would be useful, along the lines of ‘The Problem Isn’t Trump, It’s Capitalism’.
I thought that this headline was quite amusing: Sadiq Khan says Trump is ‘not in the same class’ as Obama and Bush. Of course, we know that he is.

Stephen HParticipantThis morning I did a (very) short piece to camera for the BBC, which will be shown at the weekend on Sunday Politics South. The audio will also be used on Radio Solent (and possibly Radio Oxford).
Over coming days, I’ll also be doing some leafletting in Portsmouth around the area I live in (Fratton).
Stephen HParticipantIt was lively event. There was not quite enough time for opening statements (3 minutes), given that what we stand for is so unfamiliar to many people outside our milieu, but it was a good opportunity to get the basics of our message across. Unfortunately the bar was closed after the event and most people simply left the venue quickly afterwards, so it was hard to get contact details, but some people picked up our Euro elections flyer and I got some appreciative comments on my way out from several folks, including a politics teacher and his students – with promises to make contact.
As noted above by Dave, I’ll be doing another one of these in the New Forest on 21st May at Brockenhurst Village Hall, 7pm to 8.30pm. Most parties represented, although the Tories haven’t responded yet, it seems, and the Brexit Party won’t be there (the event, like Wednesday’s, is organised by a Remain-supporting group and the Brexit Party candidate was poorly received on the Isle of Wight). If you can, please come along and give me some socialist support đ

Stephen HParticipantHad been intending to come to this, but couldn’t make it in the end. Thanks for the write-up ALB.
Stephen HParticipantPredicted and predictable hack piece in the New York Times on Venezuela, linking the country with socialism (argument: because Jeremy Corbyn said it was socialist, it is). Pretty badly done – normally the NYT’s propaganda is of a slightly higher calibre.
Stephen HParticipantAlan, nobody is denying any of that. Of course there are many horrors involved in budget air travel and as socialists we support the various  struggles of airline workers. All I am saying is that we shouldnât wag our fingers at the worker who enjoys an annual cheap flight to Ibiza for some sun after a yearâs slog in the office/factory.
Stephen HParticipantEcowarrior type are generally anti-working class. Cheap flights have been a real boon to the working class over the last few decades and surely itâs worth remembering that the most frequent flyers are the bourgeoisie (âhigh flyersâ, as they say).

He did correctly note that left-wing anti-Zionism can shade into anti-semitism, pointing out that leftists often fetishize Israel as uniquely evil and all-powerful. The 'socialism of fools', of course.
