ParticipantHere’s what the greens said in the 2024 manifesto
“Making Work Fair
Millions of people have seen their pay seriously eroded by inflation for well over a decade, including many who work in vital public services. Green MPs will defend and extend workers’ rights to organise in the workplace, pushing for:Repeal of current anti-union legislation and its replacement with a positive Charter of Workers’ Rights, with the right to strike at its heart along with a legal obligation for all employers to recognise trade unions.
A maximum 10:1 pay ratio for all private- and public-sector organisations.
An increase in the minimum wage to £15 an hour, no matter your age, with the costs to small businesses offset by reducing their National Insurance payments.
Equal employment rights for all workers from their first day of employment, including those working in the ‘gig economy’ and on zero-hours contracts. Gig employers that repeatedly break employment, data protection or tax law will be denied licences to operate.
A move to a four-day working week.”We could do with taking these clowns apart, intellectually speaking of course!

ParticipantIn DJP’s link, at around 2mins30secs we get a clear explanation from a US senator of the need for ‘humanitarian aid’ – it’s about attempting to protect raw materials supplies, trade routes etc. Who’d have thought it?

ParticipantThanks for posting this Comrade

ParticipantSorry I just amended the last sentence
Snake oil salesman drops dead
The capitalist media is swamped with glowing comments about Alex Salmond, who seems to have failed to finish his last free lunch. What a ‘monumental figure’ (starmer) who ‘inspired a generation’ (swinney)! Socialists have a different view. Salmond was one of the main purveyors of a poisonous and indeed outdated nationalism. A flag-waver with, as far as we can tell, no significant capitalist interest to represent. His ‘legacy’, apart from having helped to perpetuate the myth that workers have common cause with the owners of the country in which they happen to be born, is merely his contribution to the erection at Holyrood of yet one more greasy pole to test the climbing skill of slimy politicians.ste finch
ParticipantBy pure coincidence I am just about to submit this as a snippet

Participantinteresting to read that the “WEF points out that there is no mechanism in the capitalist system to control its excesses” (anyone on here know where he got that from?) Despite the promising headline, the author of course ends up by looking at the problem the wrong way up “Curtailing consumption is the conversation nobody wants to have”

ParticipantMaybe worth having this scumbag’s full acceptance speech for future ref….

ParticipantJust had a quick look at the RCP response. Self-deluding Trots, as usual: “No wonder that support for revolution and communism are on the rise, as millions can see every day the horrors that the capitalist system creates, both in Gaza and elsewhere.”

ParticipantYou are right DJP – it’s been changed now to remove any possible ambiguity

ParticipantJust read the Contra economia page – it’s obviously defunct now, which is a pity because it does give a pretty good account of our position

ParticipantThanks Alan, Great that she shares so many of our ideas, but this video promotes the idea of exchange between local producer communities (at 6 minutes 40 seconds) and there’s no discussion of how stuff that can’t be produced locally or on a small scale (steel or MRI scanners, for example). Seems a bit backwards looking to me. As he has read this and other stuff from the author, perhaps Cde Moss can shed some light on these 2 issues…

ParticipantJust had a quick sdquint at this – of course she ends up with the argument that we need to get together with everyone seeking ‘justice’ etc. so we know where that leads nowhere. Have you thought about contacting her Alan – bet she hasn’t heard of us!
