Good question. From the point of view of socialists in the SPGB/WSM, socialism and communism are the same thing. Marxism as a term, as ALB pointed out was adopted by socialists who agreed with his theory. Always a mistake in my view to label yourself based on a person. It just confuses things and makes it about personalities. I suspect Marx knew this.So an answer from my point of view, as to what is the difference between a Marxist and a communist/socialist. A self professed Marxist is a fool for deliberately walking into the quagmire of misdirection. Whereas a communist/socialist in the vein of the SPGB/WSM keeps the focus on the concept.

Many polls have indicated that Bernie Sanders as an independent and as a Democratic party nominee had better opportunity of defeating Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.Hi Mcolome,Do you have any links or articles to back up your statement above? I'm more interested in any stuff you have on old Trumpy.
SocialistPunkParticipantSomeone recently asked what Russell Brand is up to now. Stumbled across this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZt2cRmCHR0Some interesting stuff once you get past the first few minutes about christianity. It's a long interview so I haven't listened to it all yet.
SocialistPunkParticipantWorking on your tan and promoting socialism, all you guys needed was a cold beer or two and it would have been near perfect.
SocialistPunkParticipantHi Robbo,I think the article is a little easy on Bliar, suggesting cognitive dissonance. To those of us who were against the war, and saw through the half truths, the "sexed up" data, the apparent lack of understanding of the complexities of the history of the region, (despite having access to the best intelligence agencies in the world who had "experience" with Saddam), it wasn't cognitive dissonance at work, but simple manipulation. It's what politicians do, what they are trained to do. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-36744911
SocialistPunkParticipantIt would appear that the movers and shakers in the Labour party want rid of Corbyn, because they think the way to attract disgruntled voters, who've turned to the "right wing" in the form of UKIP, is to lean to the right as well.Corbyn being on the "left" would no doubt resist such a shallow, unprincipled play for voter acceptance.
SocialistPunkParticipantShock, horror!!! Johnson is not going to run for Tory leadership. Could it be he thinks it a likely outcome, that whoever takes the title now will get burnt big time and end up finished as an MP?http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/boris-johnson-tory-leadership-not-run_uk_5774fe46e4b08b8610d78b58?icid=maing-grid7%7Cuk-ttg%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D475050
SocialistPunkParticipantA divided nation, politicians in disarray, threats to split the union, tension building up on the streets. It's the stuff that civil wars are made of.

SocialistPunkParticipantHighly likely. Though proving it is a different kettle of fish.
SocialistPunkParticipantJust seen this on FaceBook. The petition for a second referendum, that now has well over two million signatures, was set up by a pro Brexit, politics student. You couldn't make this stuff up.http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/683410/EXCLUSIVE-The-VOTE-LEAVE-backer-whose-petition-could-inadvertently-derail-the-Brexit

It's a shame the Brexit voters in this country couldn't see that. They were conned by slogans and "Bullshit Propaganda".
SocialistPunkParticipantSocialistPunkParticipantRod, (is it ok to use this name?)Thanks for the correction. A slight slip up, though it kinda works as a pun, seeing as dominating power, has perhaps been unintentionally handed to the slimiest Tories imaginable.
SocialistPunkParticipantWatching the North East news on the BBC the next day, gave off a distinct impression that a lot of people in my region voted Brexit as a way to give the current government a kicking. People are fed up with austerity, massive cuts to local services, welfare, NHS etc. In kicking the elites, the people of the North East have just cut themselves off from the only funding source they were getting, the EU. The next bunch of Tories who get in won't be looking to fill that hole.I suspect many, casual, leave voters didn't quite expect this outcome, but thought the government would be scared into easing up on austerity. The sad thing is, they've just handed the reigns to a potentially more hard line bunch of Tories.
