Zeitgeist is still producing their videoes, satisfactory enough to recommend as introductions to socialism although with many caveats. such as thishttps://youtu.be/_EkMjTnWk14A spin-off produced this https://youtu.be/uaXhRlpusXEFree World Charter also existshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdGIyQ4LtNsWe all arrived at the idea of socialism and the SPGB via different journeys and on the way acquired different baggage we carry with us. Around the world others too have reached similar conclusions as we have in what sort of society is necessary for the betterment and the continuance of humanity. Some we will disagree with on the means to achieve it but we cannot de-legitimise them all if they stand for a revolution based on the will of the majority.Zeitgeist – we have already done this – by a party-poll including it within our hostility clause. A mistake in my opinion. We have now a group in Turkey, one i am not familiar with, nor many others, that seeks affiliation to the WSM. We demand that they accept our D. of P., which is unique to our roots and history alone.I wonder if they do not adopt the D of P it means that they place themselves outside the bounds of socialism. Maybe they have their own way of expressing socialist  ideas …a "Where We Stand" statement which may very well be as valid as our own D. of P. in describing capitalism and socialism and what sort of political action is required for working class emancipation. I await with interest the outcome of their enquiry and if indeed they do share our ideas. I am for a much more inclusionary approach rather than an exclusionary. I don't strive for perfection, just compatibility and where there exists a difference of opinion it can be taken to our fellow-workers to decide upon which route they will choose.

Yep, including TZM within the Party hostility clause is most definitely a mistake. Sure there are differences but there are more commonalities.

It's the year 2016. Quite simply it's time for the Party to bring this issue into the digital age.

We seem to be missing something important here. We have a member who has so far put in a lot of graft to produce an introductory video. Quite an important thing in itself. The idea of paying an outside agency to produce a professional video for a few thousand quid is missing the point. Vin was meant to be on the AV committee. With more help, access to material, ability to interview, financial input etc it would have been possible to develop the AV committee into a decent operational department capable of producing quality video material well into the future. It's possible to make it so that such a department can react to events happening in the world and produce video commentary. It could even spawn an interesting Party YouTube site, with regular blogs being put out. New members more savvy with digital media may be drawn in and it could become a very valuable tool in promoting socialism. Who knows what could be achieved. I urge Party members who use this forum to spread the word about this to your branches and elsewhere in the Party. Don't let a excellent opportunity slip through our fingers.

If some have issue with some of the footage of Party speakers being of poor quality, it wouldn't be hard to draw up scripts to then be filmed in suitable conditions, specifically for a promotional video. It could be done at head office and then sent to Vin.

No reference to "sin" as far as I'm concerned. But then I have no history with christianity.

Would it be preferable to put my moderators hat on to point out the use of one word does not have a religious meaning in the statement?I would have thought the secular meaning of the word would be obvious? Obviously not.

Regarding the meaning of the word "contrition", "contrite" etc. From a secular point of view it simply refers to a sense of sincerely held regret for past behaviour. From a religious point of view it refers to sin and repentanceWe have a choice as to what we think it means in its context, as a word in a statement coming from the forum moderators of the well known christian revivalist organisation, The Socialist Party of Great Britain.

Surely if Vin wishes to be reinstated on the Party discussion lists, he must now appeal to the EC?Does Vin wish to be reinstated?

Who are the three moderators. Are they on the IC and do they agree with the  Vin's  (SPGB member) permament ban from party forums, lists ?

Stephen Davison, Brian Johnson (myself) and Alan Johnstone are the three moderators and yes we are all on the IC as per terms of reference.  As for Vin's permanent ban I know I'm in favour of it and so it seems are the EC according to the last minutes.

As members of the EC do not attend this forum it will be interesting to find out what they base their decision on. SP and AJ. Are you in favour of a permanent ban from all party forums for Vin?

The issue of Vin's indefinite suspension was set in motion before my joining the IC and is now in the hands of the EC. So what my views are, have no bearing on my role as a moderator.I don't see the relevance of the suspension with Vin being a Party member. There does not exist a separate set of rules, on this forum, for non party members and Party members.

I'm sure what he really meant was, that he would resist til the last drop of working class blood was spilled.

There is a possibility in the future that the earth will no longer go around the sun. There's the possibility it will end up being swallowed up by the sun.

And still the evasion from LBird continues.
