So, while we commemorate music as protest, let’s raise a glass to Sinead. A moving song that can make us cry through the ages. She was singing about her mother who had just died. https://youtu.be/0-EF60neguk
paula.mcewanModeratorHa! Thank you twc, loving your selection music!
paula.mcewanModeratorSo, the party position is we oppose reforms as a means to socialism, but in the meantime we kind of like them?
paula.mcewanModeratorThe suffering is horrendous it’s outrageous what can we do except scream and shout in pain and revolt
paula.mcewanModeratorThanks Lizzie – I’m racing to catch up here with the fast moving dynamic of party online meetings! But I think we’re still using Zoom for August meetings https://zoom.us/j/7421974305
paula.mcewanModeratorI can’t help wondering what the Ukrainian population have to say about this war. Nobody asked them – there was no vote, or referendum- they simply got war. And all the men got conscripted- there was no freedom of choice. What kind of war is it, when men are forced upon pain of death, to fight.
We are fed propaganda that Ukrainians want this war (to defend what exactly?).
If I was Ukrainian, I would want the war to end, I would want men returned from the front line and I would surrender. I couldn’t care less if Putin or Zelenskyy ruled.
The only people benefiting right now from this war are the arms manufacturers and the only people dying are the people of Ukraine and Russian conscripts/mercenaries/army – who are also people just like us.
I want to wake up one day soon and hear on the news that Zelenskyy has removed himself, Ukrainians have the vote, and conscription has ended.

paula.mcewanModeratorYes I agree Bijou I love that rendition, it’s very moving, thank you for the post and the memory of Alan. And I’m sorry for upsetting you Lizzie, I need to remember the correct spelling. The important thing is, there is a great deal of worry, that is all.
paula.mcewanModeratorYes. You should use the following link to join our meetings: https://zoom.us/j/7421974305
The next meetings will be Summer School: Friday 21 July at 7.15 pm, Saturday 22 July at 10 am and 2 pm, and Sunday 23rd at 10 am.
Paulapaula.mcewanModeratorI suspect he’ll rejoin at some point.
paula.mcewanModeratorHahaha very droll DJP!
paula.mcewanModeratorNot speaking as a moderator here – but what a strange comment Chelmsford! It’s open to anyone – whether they be man or woman – to submit that an idea or argument is misogynist. It’s pretty strange to argue that only ‘unpleasant women’ can call it out. But maybe I’ve misunderstood your point.
Paulapaula.mcewanModeratorLizzie please do not make any more personal attacks on this forum. You have accused Marcos of being sexist and a misogynist without any reason as far as I can see, based on his recent posts.
It is fair to attack a person’s ideas but you haven’t done that – you’ve simply attacked the person. Similarly it’s fair to point out spelling mistakes but you should not accuse the wrong speller of being pathetic.
We are all friends here I hope.
Kind regards
Paulapaula.mcewanModeratorThank you Bijou. I live in hope that everyone does remain civil – something that’s easy to do for most of us here, most of the time – and I want us to live in peace with each other. We can safely attack ideas and arguments but there is no excuse for personal abuse. I sincerely hope that I won’t have any work to do as moderator.
Regards
Paulapaula.mcewanModeratorNot sure what you mean Chelmsford – in what way am I being racist? Please advise, it matters.
paula.mcewanModeratorDave I was sincere – my tongue was not actually in my cheek as a moderator. I won’t stand for abuse – not sure why you would question this? I think we all know what amounts to abuse, we don’t need a committee to agree the definition of abuse. But thank you for your kind wishes, I do appreciate them!
Kind regards
