PartisanZParticipant
Another bunch of time-wasting Leninist Vanguardists
Yes agreed. What a waste time having to read that sort of bilge.
PartisanZParticipantI was informed that the website of the SPC was hacked
We were able to get it up and running quickly. Tristan sorted it out.
PartisanZParticipantIt would be an abdication of responsibility to ignore the pretence that capitalism can be reformed without some comment. I don’t see that as me being on the attack. Especially so when it is the world’s working class who will be the agents of their own emancipation.
PartisanZParticipantFor example, there is a #socialistsunday hashtag on twitter, mostly Labour party members but not all. This would be a good place for the SPGB to become known amongst people who believe that they are socialists and are seeking solutions. Some are very close to the SPGB position
But I am always in these things. I don’t see enough comrades its true. This one I now have bookmarked for when I have some downtime, but I confidently expect a lot of hositility coming my way once I start disputing St Jeremy’s gospel.
PartisanZParticipantA.J. Baby-steps are not going to get us anywhere, Robbo. A look back at conference and ADM agendas and you’ll find an obsession with fine details but no Big Ideas.
R.C. But you cannot separate these things, ‘Baby Steps’ and the ‘Big Picture’ go together. One without the other makes no sense
I don’t see any of our speakers coming accross as ‘hostile’ in any of the pejorative senses in our videos. https://www.worldsocialism.org/spgb/video/
As an aside, everytime I see ‘babysteps’ being advocated in a political sense I want to throw a childish tantrum.
That was Peter Tatchell’s pitch (previously I had some time for him as a human rights activist but he really blew it here) to us when Clifford Slapper debated him. Comrade Slapper could scarcely hide his exasperation at him and I for one identified with Clifford.

I don’t think we should be discussing the WSPUS in their absence from this Forum either.

PartisanZParticipantIt is one of my main reasons for joining after all the B.S. I had heard and believed prior to this.
- That as all political parties are but the expression of class interests, and as the interest of the working class is diametrically opposed to the interests of all sections of the master class, the party seeking working class emancipation must be hostile to every other party.
- Political parties of the left, right and centre, claim to be working for the betterment of society. Because society functions in the interests of the capitalist class, it is clear that these parties are then supporting the interests of the capitalist class. History shows us that no matter what these parties say, when elected they administer capitalism in the only way it can be administered – in the interests of the capitalist class. Each of them has their own idea of how to run capitalism, often stealing the ideas of their supposed political opposites. The reforms that they implement must reflect economic reality. If they do not, they will not get re-elected – until the next party fails to reflect that reality. There is no way that capitalism can meet the needs of the majority, but all of these parties pretend it can if only they find the right plan. None of them have any really new ideas, only rehashed reforms that have failed in the past. Voting for any of these parties is voting for capitalism, forever.
Socialists are therefore hostile, not in the sense of committing violent acts against other parties or their members, but to the ideas of those parties which support capitalism.

PartisanZParticipantIt is early days yet and it will continue to evolve as long as we keep it comradely.
Yes it was me sweeping up the rogue code off your posts.
I needed to be sure nothing was inadvertently being imported. It looked OK, but I am a wee bit paranoid at the moment. 🙂
PartisanZParticipantMust be easier to just create a member only forum here on our own website, no?
What happens when the website is down for any reason? The email lists provide another communications network.
We would need to cost another separate email server.
The trojan alert was a pre-emptive warning by me as a member had allowed their email to become compromised.
That can potentially happen with any email service.
PartisanZParticipantIt is the fault of the company supplying the digital goods
It is not anyones fault. The company did the job the job they were paid to do.
It wasn’t their job to do any webdesign.
It was their job to get us up and running again so we could get the Standard out and very importantly save all of the archives.
To recover the files and disinfect them and install a WordPress site.
They saved the data including subscriber info and made it all safe.
They didn’t charge too much or too little.
There is much more to the website than just the forum.
We can do a different design model later in-house for the site but the emphasis is on free, opensource and surveilance free software.
As we are stuck with this one for the time being we’ll have to learn to love its quirks and in my case learn from its quirks.
Some of the stuff you have detailed can be added but all in good time.
There is a Search facility on the site.
Why do we need any of this below?
No ‘Report’ button
You can use the ‘Contact forum admin’ if there is a problem.
No Private messaging
Some members are happy about that
No User List and who is online
Why should there be, is the internet not intrusive enough?
PartisanZParticipantAs for code, it is a side effect of copying then pasting. I never used them. They automatically appear
You should always make a habit and paste ‘unformatted’. Then you can add links. It is the same on Blogger which is why we get different text sizes appearing on posts.
PartisanZParticipantI can’t help thinking that these problems are responsible for the fewer numbers of participants. I read but rarely attempt to post.
That was rapidly becoming the case in the previous Forum. I just scan the headlines and read interesting to me posts only.
I am only posting here now because I am in the IT department.
PartisanZParticipant<p>Even when i edit i’m still getting code on my posts</p><p>I also have this appearing</p>
Why do you wish to use <p></p> or any other code?
I edited a couple of your recent posts which had the above.
If you want to embolden text highlight it and then use the B
If you want to separate it a line use [ Return] on your keyboard.
If you wish to add a link, highlight it and click on the paperclip link thing above and enter the url on the ‘insert link’ screen.
”Failed to load plugin: wordpress from url
You do not say what you were doing to get this error so I am none the wiser.
I had already added a plugin to this BBpress Forum the tool bar above your post screen, which posters said at the time said in feedback, improved it a little, called TinyMCE although it hadn’t been tested with this version of WordPress.
The message you got may have something to do with this.
But that is a mere guess on my part as I don’t know what you were doing prior to this.
PartisanZParticipantThanks for the links. Max Beer was a good find especially page 269 in Volume II.
I saved the PDF downloads
PartisanZParticipantThanks for your enquiry.
There was not any way of you doing that.
There is now a ‘Contact Forum admin’ option in the Forum menu.
You should have had the option of ‘send a new password’ for your login failure.
Would you please use the ‘Contact the Forum admin’ option to send me your previous ID details so I can see it works and delete the ID.
PartisanZParticipantSorry I am of no help here. I don’t have a Windows OS to try to reproduce this problem you are seeing. I tried on an older (former win98), laptop running Puppy Linux, but to no avail. It all shows up at my end.
