Am I right in saying that the only reason the US/UK forces were in Afghanistan since 2001 was to secure the building of pipelines from the Caspian region thus bypassing Iran? Or did they also wish to defeat extremist factions in that zone? Or both? Is it the situation now that since the natural gas/oil infrastructure is now in place and profits made the troops are moved out? Also is production of “milk of the poppy” a factor of any of this? Or am I clutching at conspiracy theories again?

Very possibly the author might just accept more Capitalism as the solution to Capitalism. But just a further example of the kind of writing coming out of the woodwork in the past 20 years which might chime with SPGBers.

A few weeks ago. About 60 Jewish weirdos were crushed to death at the wailing wall. This combined with a year of lockdown frustration and insecurity, evictions to make way for “Settlers” plus the fact that Netanyahu seeks a way out of his corruption mess may have resulted in this carnage.

I like Kliman’s position on the “hollowing out of the state”. Surely the global state must be abolished through mass mandate by the slave class. Preserving whatever elements of the former apparatus as is useful for the future sane society. Unfortunate though that Kliman forgot to mention the original interview was published a year before the Occupy Movement sparked.
To me only one good thing arose from that situation. Namely a slogan… “We are the 99%” which must have crystallised things somewhat in certain workers minds as to what class position actually means.

Had to laugh (or weep) at the Paedophile/trician article. In fact it reminded me of a reply I sent to Young Master Smeet a few years ago where I mixed up “Abstruse” with “Obtuse”. DOH!

Workers can now access an entire galaxy of information at their fingertips yet they know even less. Their phones are smarter than they are.

In fact having just watched an Adam Curtis film about how utterly clueless both Tory and Labour Govts were in trying to steer the economy in the 70s then maybe they are cretins.

“A well meaning pro establishment spasm” as you so succinctly put it. The cretins don’t even know how Capitalism works. Surely they must do? Anyway cheers.

“…and their solution is essentially global socialism. Think of the Green New Deal combined with the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and throw in something called the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in which technology is supposed to radically change the way we live and work.”

This is part of the text on the newspaper as seen in the video. Enlightened Capitalists? Mindgames? Wtf is it?

Yup. You beat me to it Keymaster. I was going to mention to Movimiento that I don’t need definitions of what the Deutsch term Lumpenproletariat means. You don’t get any better quality lumpen proles like you do up here!
Plus to the question of how Glasgow members spoke to each other all I can say is that my old man ended up hating mostly all of them. “Stey away fae they Bastards” my Aunt exclaimed after she heard Jim Fleming talk at my Da’s funeral…”They ruined eez life!”
She had a point but failed to understand the hold the party can have on you. Not individuals. The cause itself. The dream. The hope. That’s why I’m still on this fuckin forum haha.

“I know the SPGB does not approve the concept of Lumpen, but I think that is what they are”

I agree with Movimiento. If the Party doesn’t approve it’s news to me. My old man (like most other members of his generation) despised the working class. Has there been a sea change? Donnelly often said that some crazed faction of workers could sabotage revolution in the end. Thus making safe passage to the next society dangerous.
Growing up I heard members call workers “slavish bastards” “fuckin proles” “bigots” “stupid cunts”. You name it. In fact I would say the term “Lumpen” is quite an elevated epithet.

    big words…

    Revolution Now! with Peter Joseph | Ep #14 | Dec 30th 2020

In this episode, the long-term evolution of activist intent, coupled with the contrast of in-system and out-system activism is discussed, highlighting the necessity for a structuralist worldview.

This is one of the things (incl his flirtation with UBI and lesser evilism) that let’s him down.
