Hamas´ murderous actions are no more justified than the actions of the Israeli apartheid state and it is pointless and counterproductive to take sides in this utterly tragic and depressing state of affairs.

It’s so easy to adopt a smug attitude when not actually experiencing what it’s like having to constantly live under a repressive regime.

Unlike the hypocritical Zelensky let’s be quite unequivocal.

The Zionist state is solely responsible for the ongoing escalation due to its continuous violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, including the recent repeated incursions into the al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli police.

Anyway, nine more nails in the coffin of the capitalist mode of production.

Add those to the eleven secured in Tunbridge Wells last year and the revolution will be a-coming anytime soon.

This song by Cyndi Lauper always reminds me of a similar journey I made a while back. 🙂

For some reason, I missed Paddy´s excellent little piece and have only just come across it now.

Well, well – talk of the devil 🙂

I don’t think so at all. Ideas don’t spread in the fashion you think you do. If 82% of the population were 100% committed to socialism that would suggest that most of the remaining 18% would be at least sympathetic to socialism. Why should that be a problem? It is inconceivable that the growth of the socialist movement would not also at the same time, alter the general social climate of opinion in a direction that favoured its further growth.

I saw what you did there, Robbo, and I hope others will too.

A cheap debating trick which is all you really have to offer.

You have missed my point about 82% being low. It is of course an overwhelming majority but I understood it to be in answer to the question “Do you think that Ukraine should be an independent country?”
In most countries the reply to such a question would be near to 99%.

Let’s ask a slightly different question. “Do you think that your homeland (i.e. where you were born and bred) should resist invasion by another country?”

In most countries the reply to such a question would be near to 99%.

A figure as low as 82% suggests a serious minority problem.

That statement, perhaps unwittingly, has devastating ramifications for the socialist revolution. The SPGB talks about a majority needing to understand and implement it. But if a figure of 99% or even 82% is required to bring it about and avoid a serious minority problem then you really are residing in the realms of cloud cuckoo land.

My ‘naivetĂ©’ suggests that it’s PGB, rather than the SPGB, who occupies the ‘moral’ high-ground here.

The Ukrainians are attempting to defend their homeland in much the same way most people would attempt to defend their homes (and loved ones) against an intruder.

That you’re unable to understand this will almost certainly be one of the reasons your party has been an abject failure for almost 120 years.

Perhaps you could also tell us what savings you found in the reductions isle of the supermarket last week?

I take it English is not your first language; if it were you’d know that isle is another word for an island, especially a small one. I suspect you mean aisle.

Goodness me, far, far too busy to visit a supermarket!; almost everything I need is ordered online and delivered to my moderately salubrious accommodation in the Home Counties. I have, therefore, no occasion to actively search for reductions but it’s always rather pleasant when they occur fortuitously.

OFGEM have announced a cut in electricity unit rates, but an Energy Price Cap increase for standing charges from October 1.

However, Octopus (my supplier), claims to have the cheapest standing charges of any large supplier, and will not be increasing standing charges from October.

As a consequence of these various actions my annual electricity bill is projected to fall by over ÂŁ150.

    Yay!

I’m not at the point of naming users, but I recently removed a post with no content other than personal abuse, and also a post that responded to personal abuse.

What, do you mean Chelmsford‘s joke about my bike having stabilisers and my equally light-hearted response?

Whoever said that humour goes down like a lead balloon in the SPGB was right on target.

It’s just that nobody wants to hear your tedious trolling anymore.

More like dyed-in-the-wool impossibilists not wanting to hear opinions contrary to their own.

I bet the Green candidate will be there on her bike.

    As I might!
