The rabbi of the Israeli army’s Nahal Brigade training base, Amichai Friedman, told soldiers that the Israeli public understands that “This is our country. All of it. Including Gaza, including Lebanon, the entire Promised Land.”
The rabbi explains the essence of Zionism very clearly and without equivocation: Gaza and Lebanon are lands to be ethnically cleansed so that the ‘chosen’ people can claim them as their own. Zionism is Fascism.

Yep, and despite capitalism having been around for several centuries it still hasn’t produced its own gravediggers. So much for Historical Materialism.
November 3, 2023 at 5:47 pm in reply to: We should correct the party statement on our website #248141Lizzie45Blocked…. but this just looks like a description of war with the standard stock response “and the solution: socialism” pasted at the end.
It’s not going to convince anyone that isn’t already on board….
But that’s the SPGB’s standard stock response, not only on war, but on every single issue, surely. And that’s why you haven’t been able to convince more than a relatively tiny handful of people in 120 years.
But keep plugging it! 🙂

Lizzie45BlockedI’m interested in the ‘growing evidence’ that a lot of the victims of Hamas’s attack were killed by the Israeli army. Where is it to be found? In any case I don’t think anyone’s doubting that Hamas committed serious atrocities.

Try this:
Lizzie45BlockedAll the signs are in place that Israel is once again seriously considering a massive ethnic cleansing operation, conducted at lightning speed and with US assistance.

Lizzie45BlockedPost today on the SPGB’s Spopen forum by an ex-Executive Committee member.
I’ve just read the party leaflet on Gaza and I would never distribute such a leaflet. I think its an insult to the Palestinians being slaughtered.
This is not a war and workers are not fighting each other. Gaza is being flattened by Israel using US bombs. Hamas breached the border with hang gliders and pickup trucks, allowed to do so for over 6 hours.
The citizens of Gaza were living in an open air prison and now Hell! This is genocide and the party should call it out as such.
The time for leaflets is when emotions are not running high and when workers are not bombarded with scenes of atrocities.
To be quite frank I would be ashamed to hand out that cold and in my opinion inaccurate statement.
Lizzie45BlockedIt’s ironic that this is the anthem for a violent sport (rugby). This song gives Imagine a run for its money as a potential anthem for the World Socialist Movement.
Gustav Holst at his finest!
And yes, ironic indeed!
Lizzie45BlockedAuf beiden Seiten der Grenze sind wir Klassenbrüder und -schwestern!
On both sides of the border, we are class brothers and sisters!
Lizzie45BlockedTalk about a rogue state. And the US and Britain are sending warships to support Israel
Looks as though you’ve answered your own question – Which repressive regime are we talking about? Hamas or Israel?
(#247485).Lizzie45BlockedAll the best to our Lizzie for the forthcoming trip to south america and the antipodes. Glad to hear she has overcome her own cost-of-living crisis!
Well, gee thanks, Essex Boy.
Heard from my parents this morning that they’re getting a £500 Winter Fuel Payment and are giving it to me to assist with my ‘extravagant’ tastes while in South America. 🙂
Lizzie45BlockedAs I’m going away for an extended period (don’t all cheer at once!) I thought I’d leave you with a little upbeat something.
Select full screen and ramp up the volume… 🙂
Lizzie45BlockedWell, if socialism is pie in the sky and capitalism the only game in town, what do you see as the answer within capitalism to the oppression of Palestine’s non-Jewish inhabitants?
There probably isn’t an answer so anticipate further bloodshed – one way or another Homo Sapiens will eventually self-destruct.
Anyway, I scoot off now. Off on a tour of observatories in South America before attending a seminar on quantum gravitation. Then Österreich for Yuletide.
Some girls have all the fun 🙂
Lizzie45BlockedOur view is that all oppressed peoples should seek their liberation, not as members of nations or religions or ethnic groups, but as workers. They should unite to abolish the division of the world into so-called nation-states and to establish a world cooperative commonwealth of in which we will all be free and equal members – citizens of the world, not subjects of nation-states.
And in the meantime oppressed people should just “turn the other cheek”, recognise their present existence as “a Vale of Tears”, and trust in their assured salvation in the hereafter.
No essential difference then to the approach taken by religious zealots, except that the “hereafter” promised in this case is socialism and not heaven. One not so small problem – heaven doesn’t exist and neither will ‘heaven on earth’.
Lizzie45BlockedWhat has happened? Lizzie has ceased to be a sniping cynic and expressed a political view of her own.
OK, I’ll bite.
This conflict didn’t start on October 7. Israel has occupied both West Bank Palestine and Gaza for nearly 60 years, and over that time has arrested and imprisoned hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. Nathan Thrall, in his impressive, just published book*, explains that during the First Intifada (1967-1993) the Israeli occupiers jailed some 700,000 Palestinian men and boys on the West Bank, roughly 40 percent of the entire male population there.
Today, the Israeli occupiers continue to arrest Palestinians, holding them for long stretches without anything resembling a fair trial. But the U.S. mainstream media never seems to describe these Palestinian people as “hostages.”
This double standard perfectly illustrates the mainstream media’s approach on how to distort the crisis. First, twist the actual reports, with one-sided language and biased framing. But second, and arguably more importantly; ignore any of the history of Israel/Palestine, so that the attack from Gaza looks like an inexplicable, unprovoked spasm of violence and Jew-hatred.
