Lizzie45BlockedHamas’ incursion into Israel on October 7 transformed the politics of the Middle East. Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit (I-Unit) has carried out a forensic analysis of the events of that day – examining seven hours of footage from CCTV, dashcams, personal phones and headcams of dead Hamas fighters, and drawing up a comprehensive list of those killed.
In October 7, the I-Unit reveals widespread human rights abuses by Hamas fighters and others who followed them through the fence from Gaza into Israel.
But the investigation also found that many of the worst stories that came out in the days following the attack were false. This was especially true of atrocities that were used repeatedly by politicians in Israel and the West to justify the ferocity of the bombardment of the Gaza Strip, such as the mass killing of babies and allegations of widespread and systematic rape.
In particular the I-Unit reveals that claims by the Israel Defence Force that it found 8 burned babies at a house in Kibbutz Be’eri were entirely untrue. There were no babies in the house and the 12 civilians inside were killed by Israeli forces when they stormed the house. This was one of a number of incidents where the police and army appear to have killed Israeli citizens.
Lizzie45BlockedHere’s Sabine’s take on the subject:
Lizzie45BlockedIn the UK 12 million people were in absolute poverty at the height of the cost of living crisis – equivalent to 18% of the population, including 3.6 million children.
The latest figures show food insecurity rose dramatically, up from 4.7 million people (7%) in 2021-22 to 7.2 million (11%) in 2022-23. Food bank use is also up, with 3.4% of all UK households saying they had accessed charity food in the past 12 months, a figure that rises to 10% of households in poverty.
Lizzie45BlockedWilhelm Reich’s The Mass Psychology of Fascism and Listen, Little Man! both address the propensity of the mass of the proletariat to idolize and to follow, and to actively hate those who do not join the majority in this.
Wise words from a fellow Austrian who effectively demonstrates the futility of expecting the working class to overthrow capitalism, which is, and will remain, the only game in town.
Until…..
Suck it up, comrades 🙁
Lizzie45BlockedNow back in good old Blighty (a rather quaint word which, I find, originates from the Urdu word Vilayati). Fascinating!
And to the wonderful news that Octopus, my energy supplier, will be reducing bills for the typical home by around £238 a year, following OFGEM’s announcement of new Energy Price Cap rates for April 2024.
Yippee!
March 12, 2024 at 12:35 am in reply to: United leftwing general election challenge to Labour? #250962Lizzie45BlockedAnother contribution to this debate, from Ed Griffiths who we know:
And not one mention in that lengthy article, as far as I can tell, of the SPGB, who Griffiths knows not only well, but I see gave a talk at your Head Office some nine years ago!
Lizzie45Blocked‘Inappropriate behaviour’ appears to be a common feature of the Boeberts: her ex-husband reportedly revealed his ‘assets’ to two women in a bowling alley back in 2004.
Lizzie45BlockedNo understanding of real historical processes….
Same applies to the overwhelming majority of the world’s workers which is why capitalism remains the only and (predictably) final game in town.
Lizzie45BlockedOutside Muslim areas Galloway’s Workers Party have much support.
I presume you intended to say doesn’t have much support.
Don’t be quite so sure, bearing in mind your rather poor track record when it comes to making predictions. 🙂
Lizzie45BlockedOf course it goes without saying that Israel is a terrorist state.
And inveterate liars.
A BBC article checking the veracity of Israeli claims to have killed 10,000 Hamas fighters.
Lizzie45BlockedThere was a lone counter-protester on the other side of the road holding up a hand-written placard saying “Hamas is a Terrorist Organisation”. Which is not untrue.
You and the ‘lone counter-protester’ are simply parroting the Western media’s description of Hamas. As Chris Williamson (one of the Workers Party’s deputy leaders) is reported to have said:
You can’t expect to live in a situation where people have been oppressed for 75 years and not expect a reaction.
Lizzie45BlockedIn any event those currently in charge of the Israeli state are guilty of something, if only of being deluded in imagining that they can effectively make Gaza and the West Bank part of a Greater Israel…..
This has been the aim of Zionists since the creation of the Israeli state and who or what will thwart that declared objective?
The debate has not been for or against the indivisibility of Eretz Israel. No Zionist can forgo the smallest portion of Eretz Israel.
A partial Jewish State is not the end, but only the beginning. I am certain that we will not be prevented from settling in the other parts of the country, either by mutual agreements with our Arab neighbours or by some other means. . . (emphasis added)
Quotes attributed to David Ben-Gurion – the first Prime Minister of Israel.
Lizzie45Blocked“c***” is an angry expletive
Not necessarily and hasn’t always been. Principally it’s a slang term for a woman’s genitalia – i.e. vulva or vagina.
Its etymology can be traced to a Germanic word – kuntō.
The earliest known use of the word, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, was as part of a place name: a street in Oxford, England called Gropecunt Lane during the 13th century, which now goes by the name of Grove Passage or Magpie Lane.
Use of the word as a term of abuse is relatively recent, dating from the late 19th century. The word appears not to have been taboo in the Middle Ages, but became taboo towards the end of the 18th century, and was then not generally admissible in print until the latter part of the 20th century.
Which just goes to show how language changes over time.
