    Post hoc ergo propter hoc!

Shame this teenager couldn’t ‘miraculously’ cure himself of his own leukaemia.

I explained to him that there would be no need, in Socialism we will just put the pumps on the other side of the bar.

It strikes me as odd that we’re not happy that the Conservatives have got a kicking.

Could you tell us why the party should be happy? I’m not a member but even I know there’s very little difference between the Conservatives, Labour and all the other parties seeking to reform capitalism.

Further evidence, should it be needed, that any mention of socialism (or communism) is anathema to the overwhelming majority and unlikely to change anytime soon.

Best take a break, comrades, and try again in, say, five hundred years time when workers might be a little more receptive. Only problem, as old Moore keeps reminding us, is that the planet is likely to be uninhabited long before then.

It’s not that hard, Lizzie, perhaps your not as cunning a linguist as you claim!

I don’t claim to be a cunning linguist (snigger) although being reasonably fluent in four languages makes me quite a clever girlie. I also know the difference between your and you’re, their and there and Carlisle and Carlise.

You’re being asked to vote in the London elections for an Assembly that will watch a Mayor ask a government to ask the people who own the country for the money to run the region

So says the opening paragraph of the SPGB’s GLA Election leaflet!

English may not be my first language but I think I have more than a sufficient understanding of it to conclude that the above convoluted text is enough to confuse even the least dumbed-down member of the populace.

According to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which tracks the number of households in financial difficulties, 5.8 million people reported that they were struggling to pay a large bill in February 2020.

The data, which gives an insight into the UK’s personal finances, showed that by January 2023 the number of people in financial difficulties almost doubled to 10.9 million.

So will those people stick with capitalism? You bet they will!
