“We could face the prospect of pubs being unable to pay their bills, jobs being lost and beloved locals across the country forced to close their doors, meaning all the good work done to keep pubs open during the pandemic could be wasted.”

Let’s see how those living north of Lancaster and Sheffield react to that possibility.

“Your reformist view of the world clearly only covers the warm South. Those of us beyond Lancaster and Sheffield presumably are used to be be bloody freezing, so they know how cope with fuel poverty.”

If those living north of Lancaster and Sheffield can’t be arsed to campaign and struggle on issues such as ‘fuel poverty’ and the like, what hope is there for your pipe-dream? 🙂

“Supporters of reformism, such as Lizzie45, argue that without the campaigns of the labourists and their reformist associates, “Gains” such as welfare reforms, health service support, better unemployment benefits, retirement benefits, union recognition, collective bargaining, equality and diversity reforms, et al, would only have been achieved by Labour Party style campaigns, and that without all of these Labourist campaigns, the working class would have been deprived of these benefits.”

LMFAO! You presume far too much BD. You know nothing about me!

As OFGEM hiked the energy price cap by a massive 80% on Friday, Don’t Pay groups across the country came together with a clear message: no one cold or hungry this winter.

From London to Lancaster, Somerset to Sheffield, we held protests, street stalls and banner drops to spread the word about the strike and build the pledge. With more than 129,000 of us now signed up to the strike pledge, our movement is growing quickly!

“Anyway, the socialist revolution is inevitable. This is due to the materialist conception of history”

Yeah, sure, except that previous ‘revolutions’ didn’t require a politically conscious majority to implement them, which is where the MCH falls down.

But take care with predictions; they can often leave you with egg on your face.

“And 118 years of piecemeal reforms have achieved what? Only another cry for another piecemeal reform!”

They’ve achieved considerably more than the now rapidly dwindling number of impossibilists have over the same period.

Lenin was being optimistic when he declared “If Socialism can only be realized when the intellectual development of all the people permits it, then we shall not see Socialism for at least five hundred years.”

(As quoted in: ‘Ten Days That Shook the World’ (1926))

“So, it’s Fair Price versus No Price. Which is the pipe dream? You decide.”

After, what is it now, 118 years?, those who have heard the SPGB’s ‘case’ have overwhelmingly made their decision. But, no matter ALB, you continue to dream on.

We’ll soon see how long the energy companies hold out when countless people stop paying their bills. But what people can’t and won’t do is wait for the resource based/socialist pipe dream.

1.7 MILLION households say they’re planning to cancel payments to energy suppliers this autumn.

This new opinion poll in the i newspaper says it all: if the government doesn’t act, millions of people will. We refuse to stand by as millions go cold and hungry, all so the energy companies can keep making huge profits.

But the only way we’ll win and lower energy prices is if we all pledge to join the strike together!

A very close friend of mine, who also used to be a member of the SPGB, never had any illusions about Coleman, particularly after he left to pursue his career in academia.
