just on the issue of nationalism – whilst I suppose I disfavour it in principle, history shows that the “national problem” doesn’t always vanish under different versions of Marxism/Socialism and as a mobilizing force it is incredibly powerful (obvious example is India’s epic struggle against British rule of course) as history also attests to:

Just seen this on Twitter – “Three days ago, @thetimes reported the presence of UK “boots on the ground” in Ukraine. As in: British soldiers have been deployed physically inside Ukraine territory. But there hardly seems to be any controversy, followup coverage, or even discussion of this. Very odd”.
