There was an episode of The Big Questions on the BBC this morning. The topic was “Is religion good for children?”http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01hhh3yIts well worth a watch and addresses some of the issues raised here.Personally I don’t think it impedes the growth of the party, since the British Humanist Association has over 28,000 members and supporters.Couldn’t we leaflet their conference in Cardiff National Museum from 8 – 10 June – detailed below?http://www.humanism.org.uk/meet-up/events/view/172?page=1
jondwhiteParticipantThanks for the report.
jondwhiteParticipantIts a great idea.
jondwhiteParticipantI appreciate Robin’s contribution, but think religion is on the decline anyway. Even if declining religious numbers were queuing up, I agree with the principle of barring them. He’s right that they should orbit around the party (on mailing lists for example) since people develop ideas in inchoate and uneven ways.

jondwhiteParticipantNon-nuclear accidents seem to be able to be contained and cleaned up.
jondwhiteParticipantIsn’t it an indictment of syndicalism too, where votes would be based on your work?Note also Alexandra Swann’s reply”1. I did not defend Cllr Bursnall. I said he raised interesting points. My comment about dangerous was in reference to national debt through excessive public spending – I have NEVER advocated reducing the franchise or abolishing one man one vote. 2. My PhD is on Herbert Spencer and 19thC land tenure reform, not Social Darwinism. 3. I’m 24.Please in future contact me before taking my comments out of context. I said Tom raised interesting points from a theoretical perspective, I wasn’t saying it should be UKIP policy.”
jondwhiteParticipantIn a similar humane civilised way Norway deals with people like Breivik (ever see Michael Moore’s visit to a prison in Sicko?). I notice Breivik chooses Barbarism over his perception of “Marxism”, since he asks that he either be acquitted or sentenced to death, a point which the thoroughly disgraced left of the WRP seem to agree with.
jondwhiteParticipantThere’s a lot of classics available free especially at marxists.org.
April 18, 2012 at 12:29 pm in reply to: “Property is mean – intellectual or not ” wine & cheese public meeting, London, Friday 27th April #88255jondwhiteParticipant“Most proponents of open-source software and proponents of intellectual property rights reforms distinguish between “intellectual property law” and your run-of-the-mill property law; they oppose the former but appreciate the latter.”Most proponents of open-source software don’t oppose intellectual property law anywhere near as making everything public domain.
jondwhiteParticipantNews media enterprises naturally concentrates into specific opinions so that when foreign ruling-classes launch news media channels such as al-Jazeera (Qatari ruling classes) and Russia Today it can sound radically different.
jondwhiteParticipantThere was something like this at Salon.comWhen Mormons were socialists – Salon.com
jondwhiteParticipantThanks for the reply about WSPUS.Members still use the mailing lists so they shouldn’t only have the option to use a forum. Likewise WSM companion parties already have forums older than this one so they shouldn’t be asked to stop using it. Some things are worth centralising but discussion is not one of them.
