Definitely some good ideas here – but can someone enlighten me as to what exactly is the remit of the publications committee please? Second point, perhaps members of the said committee could be pointed towards this discussion which is surely relevant to them? They could well choose to have some input which would benefit all of us.

Whilst I agree with ALB's long 'mmmmm' this phrase alone could be the opener for a challenge – just how 'open' are they prepared to be. Let's give it a go from all quarters as things develop?

Hi Alan, I asked 'my' Alan about this. He says he moved away from anything google some time ago as they've become more and more intrusive and controlling. The browsers he uses, both which function very well, are Yandex beta and Opera. Mine , and his sometimes, is Firefox. As for search engines we both use DuckDuckGo having dumped google. DuckDuckGo doesn't track you so there's no crap to deal with – not trying to flog you info etc.To clean up facebook use FBPurityPeriodically this computer skills necessity drives me absolutely bonkers – I have to leave the room screaming!

I'd like to inject a little positive here. It's easy to understand the frustration from some contributors when things appear to be stagnant or moving backwards even but there are already some new angles to be explored offered on this thread and with the survey yet to be completed there will surely be other relevant suggestions or areas for discussion. There are several of us here from far flung parts both in the UK and the rest of the world but I'm not sure the frustration is increased by that. As gnome pointed out earlier it has not been possible to fill all posts. Let's give those comrades  who are doing necessary work, in whatever area, recognition for the time they put in with their best efforts along with holding down a job and trying to fit in 'having a life.'Perhaps we can consider that while we all tread different paths we seek the same destination.FOR SOCIALISM.

Still waiting for my email survey, the postal one won't arrive here for at least 10 days, so some measure of impatience, as it wouldn't get back before the stated date for returns.

Checking in on my daily basis, relieved to read ALB's post above. I endorse all the comments above and send strong support to keep the Socialist Standard in print – for multifarious reasons.

Great to hear from you again AJ. I was beginning to think you'd taken a sabbatical. I look forward to hearing more from you soon on the blog.

There are daily articles re the effects of this on http://www.countercurrents.orgAs one can imagine mostly affecting the poorest of society. The notes cannot be used to buy food and medicines and other daily necessities. There have been a number of deaths daily, apparently as a direct result.
