J SurmanParticipant
Looks as if they being drawn into making suggestions as to how to run capitalism and are setting off down the reformist roadCertainly does! Oh well, carry on comrades!
J SurmanParticipantThis seems a rather strange communication coming from out of the blue. I’m wondering what motivated ‘Nod’ to write in at this time, perhaps he’ll tell us more if he wants any serious replies.Just one point, what’s his opinion on the really nasty parasites who cause so much death and destruction around the world while they’re focussed on their never-ending quest for accumulation?
J SurmanParticipantI’ve just read an article by Badruddin Umar, Bangladeshi Marxist politician and historian, about a ‘Finish Capitalism’ movement within the Occupy Wall Street mvt.He makes a number of interesting points including one about US imperialism being responsible for many disgruntled people/workers around the world, and links it to chinks in the armour that activists can use to hasten the demise of capitalism. Several times he iterates that socialism can only be global.I’m passing it on (not having explained it too well) because there is space for comments and some of you may choose to :www.countercurrents.org/umar301111.html
J SurmanParticipantI think this brings out the difference between “anti-capitalist” and “anti-capitalism”. I’m sure he is anti-capitalism but what he was advocating was resistance to the activities of capitalists within capitalism. – (you wrote.)Yes, This is what an awful lot of commentators are doing; picking and choosing individual sectors of capitalists for a bashing, and sometimes pointing out how they need to be reined in or their activities curtailed somewhat – however, falling short of wanting rid of the whole caboodle. It’s very disappointing just how close some of them get to advocating a total change of system but then end without spitting it out. Do they not believe it themselves or are they afraid of putting their names to it for whatever reason? – rhetorical question. So, it’s up to all of us to continue getting the word out as loud and clear as possible.Re the video downloading thing – it’s a pain in the proverbial and we do take laptops around with us to beg, borrow, steal bandwidth, but you can imagine how it complicates life.
J SurmanParticipantThanks for the comment, Adam. At least I now know I haven’t missed a lot by not being able to download the video.By the by, I’ve been getting more and more frustrated trying to get access to this forum. Luckily the ever-decreasing circles led me here at last and I can breathe a sigh of relief.
