Or attend both?
J SurmanParticipantThanks for the work and the news. Just given it a try. All seems well.
J SurmanParticipantALB wrote:[quote=ALB But, more seriously, it refutes the view that the experience of an economic crisis will spontaneously generate a socialist or even a anti-capitalist consciousness. It emphasises the need for people to hear the case for socialism, for this to become part of their experience, for a socialist consciousness to have a chance of emerging.Any chance we get back to this part of ALB's comment? We're endeavouring to do this on a regular basis but what or how could we do this better? The capitalist way and throw lots of money at it etc etc? C'mon guys, serious ideas please!
J SurmanParticipantThis quote from Global Research says a lot about where the 'main street' media is coming from:“We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.” – David Rockefeller, Bilderberg, 1991

Experience has shown it to be a fallacy. Of course there are journalists who do serious investigative work and who do provide honest information. Unfortunately they are not often seen or heard in the mass media.
J SurmanParticipantAnd part 2 has just arrived:http://medialens.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=4080&mailid=315&subid=20947Is puerile a reasonable description of so much of the UK mainstream media?
J SurmanParticipantThere's some info re Brand's book 'Revolution' here -http://medialens.org/index.php?option=com_acymailing&no_html=1&ctrl=url&urlid=4063&mailid=314&subid=20947for those interested. Not a review as such but quite a few quotes. I got it as an email from http://www.webmaster@medialens.org
J SurmanParticipantListen to this Furey brothers' recording here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0tFv8yu7owI've listened, and sung alomg with it, for years – it always hits the mark.
J SurmanParticipantYeah, it's totally sick. And here in Turkey where we flip quickly through the international news channels to 'compare and contrast' we are also sickened to see EVERYONE, presenters and guests alike, who appears on the BBC for almost a month before the 11th November wearing a red poppy. Do they really have a poppy box at the door and a policy that if you don't wear one you don't appear? It certainly seems like that. Puke, puke!
J SurmanParticipantJ SurmanParticipantYes, i agree with the 'looking at the postive aspects of this subject.' Just read another article well worth the reading, from here: http://newint.org/blog/2014/10/28/russell-brand-liberal-majority/?utm_medium=ni-email&utm_source=message&utm_campaign=intl-enews-2014-10-31 Youssef El-Gingihy is a GP working in Tower Hamlets. – See more at: http://newint.org/blog/2014/10/28/russell-brand-liberal-majority/?utm_medium=ni-email&utm_source=message&utm_campaign=intl-enews-2014-10-31#sthash.LIsPEJWB.dpuf
J SurmanParticipantGreat! Stay in touch and send news from your side.
J SurmanParticipantQuote:I don't see how Brand could be talking about the former Soviet Union, Vin. Apparently the SPgb has successfully managed to get through to millions of our class, that must mean the myths of "communism" have been laid to rest, surely?I'd be interested who and where the millions are you mention Soc. Punk, your source I mean. It certainly doesn't strike me like that.As to what people think of when 'communism' is mentioned that would make for a good discussion on this forum. I often find it to be a stumbling block, having to politely point out the huge gap between 'state capitalist communism' and what we mean by communism/socialism. I'd also like to hear from the younger generation on this one – the under 30s say.A new thread?
J SurmanParticipantI won't try anything fancy! Just Jonathan Cook's update on the media and Brand today:http://www.jonathan-cook.net/blog/2014-10-25/brands-critics-are-asking-the-wrong-question/
J SurmanParticipantSorry for the above mess. When I saw the result above, (my post finished after 'tried to paste a quote' sentence) I tried to edit it but it won't allow me to change anything! When i tried to paste the quote nothing came up in my post.I'm baffled.
