Meanwhile, Liverpool's new manager Jurgen Klopp says he will not tolerate individuals veering away from his methods and demands total obedience. Players must feel they are ready to die in the game.Would athletes in a socialist society tolerate talk like that? Would they need a manager at all?

Depends how they have chosen to organise themselves. In some situations (firefighting, operating a ship, warfare etc.) hierarchical control is the most efficient way to go about things. If this apply to sport I don't know, and probably don't care either…

Wouldn't it be possible to determine the proportion of UK readers and foreign-based readers of the Standard by URL

According to our Google Analytics account in 2014 35% of visits where from the US, 26% from the UK. The rest are from all around the world or unknown.

Seeing as the online membership form was set up late October 2011 it seems to have had a dramatic effect. Has the option of online subscription had a similar effect on subscriptions to the Standard?

We know that armies do not always remain loyal to parliament, that is another reason why we say that socialism can only happen once it has majority backing, we'd expect some of this majority socialist leaning to have filtered into the military as soldiers are for the most part just ordinary workers.Suppose some general was to attempt a coup in 5 years time from now. How many of the soldiers would be loyal to him? I don't think a majority would go with it. When Franco tried his coup I think around half(?) of the army remained loyal to the republic.

I would have thought it would pay good dividends to scour reddit.com to, but for me I try to spend less time on forums mailing lists as possible, for now.

Actually that reminded me of this which I read yesterday:http://grist.org/food/dealing-with-the-rational-fear-about-gmos-and-global-catastrophe/I think socialism will have a rational, sustainable and evidence based agricultural policy and there's no good reason to think that GM can't be a part of that. In the changing world climate we are facing we will need all the tools we can get..

SP.There's no such thing as absolute certain knowledge. But there have now been thousands of studies going back for well over a decade and meta-analysis (statistal analysis of many studeis combined) confirms that yes they are safe to eat.Take this for example:http://www.skepticalraptor.com/skepticalraptorblog.php/review-10-years-gmo-research-no-significant-dangers/

I think if you add a bit of scientific illiterate populism into the mix and you'd be about right.Actually though you should change the title to "GM Crops". People have been eating GM rennet in cheese since the late 80's it's just that no-one seems to have noticed (or died or the world imploded).

How do you know they are inactive?

It's quite simple. Because they don't engage in branch or commitee activity.

To be honest I'm fairly disintersted in this discussion, it seems fairly two bit to me. There are no magic bullets. I have no opposition to further web based activities like Youtube films etc but at the same time there's no reason to discontinue what we have been doing as well. As yet it seems that those who have made contact with us online, without any face to face meetings, just turn out to be inactive paper members…

To say 'that is just an assertion' is not a counter argument.

It's not meant to be a counter argument, just an indication that you've made a claim without also giving any reasons or argument to back it up…

Decisions are made after ADM when all members get to do a postal vote.

When did we start doing that? How does that work?

Sorry got that the wrong way around, after conference everyone gets voting papers through the post. It's been like this for, I don't know, a decade now.. You must know that!?

Only a minority of party members can attend London and yet that is where decisions are made.

No they're are not. Decisions are made after ADM when all members get to do a postal vote. Subbed travel is available for delegates to ADM and conference to.But I have nothing against online meetings in principle, though the demand has been low and I think most branches that have tried them do not do so at present..

It just allows people to register a thumbs up or thumbs down next to each post.
