According to Antiwar.Com the lads from JP Morgan are ‘dodging the bombs’ in Ukraine (never an accurate drone strike when you need one) on the look out for profitable opportunities. Mr Zelensky has assured them they will make money on their investments in any future reconstruction.
What’s left of the Ukrainian working-class is going to have to pull it’s finger out to supply the surplus-value.
Still, at this stage it’s all talk and probably down right lies.

Word has it that Rod Stewart is to re-record his 1978 hit Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? as Do Ya Think I’m Lefty? However, there seems to be no truth in the rumour as I have just this moment invented it.

James19 does point out that the officers were black, thus:

He was beaten by officers like Rodney King.

The beating wasn’t the undoing of Rodney King, but the compensation he was awarded. He was found stuffed full of drugs at the bottom of his own swimming-pool.
The moral being: it don’t do to give poor people shed loads of dough.

Given that young American black men are more likely to be killed by other young American black men, by sending them out to fight it’s wars American capitalism is doing them a favour by putting them out of harms way.

All this loony talk of (hot) air takes me back to my time at Cambridge when we went on that sky-gazing field-trip me and a group of would-be cosmologists. They took me along to put up the Coleman four person tent and dig the latrine. Have you even shared a tent with three student cosmologists? Each in a state of emotional and hygienic disarray? Breaking wind all night. Dear o dear. I hardly got a wink of sleep. Must have been that brawn hotpot I had.

My own modest contribution to the holocaust was a Christmas turkey the size of a rhino. It had an enormous parson’s nose! The sandwiches are exhausted and we are down to feeding through the mincer what remains on the bones. What I wouldn’t give for a bacon doorstep all fatty with bags of brown sauce.

Some marvelous skiing in Austria. Lizzie (who weighs eighteen stone) could be hurtling down the Arlberg, the Lech or the St Anto. If you are a beginner Liz can I just wish you what all we actors wish one another on opening night – break a leg.

He didn’t say hardship makes you happier. As far as the facts go he is quite right. There is no denying it was tougher for workers in the past.
Hardship today is spending a week in Spain rather than the usual ten days.

Too stupid to offer an intelligent answer to ALB’s question.Just don’t know.
There is negligible use of cash in Sweden and they expect to go completely cashless by 2023, but the inflation rate last November was 11.5 per cent.Figure that one out.

There was talk not so long ago of British capitalism going cash-free, all monetary transactions going digital(?) If it did this that would see the end of inflation. After all, given that inflation is an excess issue of inconvertible notes and coins, if there were no notes and coins to issue excessively, it follows there would be no inflation.

Take a look at the Russian Tensions thread. It’s pretty unpleasant if not barking. But it does provide a salutary lesson in how socialists differ from the Left in general and British Bolsheviks in particular.

Trench warfare in the Ukraine. It would be sweet if a game of footie was in play Christmas morning in no-man’s land. I’d be nervous refereeing a match like that. There would be one or two over-the-top challenges. Ron Harris v Norman Hunter. Then they could go back to killing one another.
