Dozens of Clarence House staff have been given notice of their redundancy as the offices move to Buckingham Palace.

Up to 100 employees at the former official residence, including some who have worked there for decades, received notification that they could lose their jobs just as they were working round the clock to smooth his elevation to the throne.

Private secretaries, the finance office, the communications team and household staff are among those who received notice during the thanksgiving service for the Queen, at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.

Staff had assumed they would be amalgamated into the King’s new household, claiming they were given no indication of what was coming until the letter from Sir Clive Alderton, the King’s top aide, arrived.

One source said: “Everybody is absolutely livid, including private secretaries and the senior team. All the staff have been working late every night since Thursday, to be met with this. People were visibly shaken by it.”

Further to the heckle of Andrew

…using an M-LAT or “mutual legal assistance treaty” request via the US state department. Berman says such requests had always worked both ways before.

“But that was not what happened with Prince Andrew,” he writes. “We got absolutely nowhere. Were they protecting him? I presume someone was.”

A 22-year-old man has been charged in connection with a breach of the peace after the Duke of York was heckled as he walked behind the Queen’s coffin.

He was referring to Andrew’s connection with Epstein

As ALB has indicated this thread has digressed from the topic. (I was one of those who is to blame so mea culpa) but now another member of the forum has rightly complained.

Be reminded of these relevant rules

    1. The general topic of each forum is given by the posted forum description…do not derail existing threads with off-topic posts.

    12. Moderators may move, remove, or lock any threads or posts which they deem to be off-topic or in violation of the rules…

    13. Moderators may temporarily or permanently suspend posting and private messaging privileges for posters they deem to be in violation of the rules.

    15. Queries or appeals relating to particular moderation decisions should be sent directly to the moderators by private message. Do not post such messages to the forum.

From now on I will delete posts that as moderator I deem off-topic.

If necessary I may lock this topic thread as was done with the Hong Kong one but I am loathe to take such drastic action so please don’t force me to.

I did review this topic thread, TS.

“Damn your pro-capitalist, murderous crap!” was the first epithet thrown at you in message 232797

Message 232822 where you replied “Spoken like a true coward.” to the comment “We shun it as mass murder, whatever the colour of the flag.”

    7. You are free to express your views candidly and forcefully provided you remain civil.

    Now heed the rule.

I am sorry you do not agree with my moderation, MS.

If others also support your request then I will reconsider my position.

But I have always believed that the strength of the Socialist Party has been that it freely permits criticism and allows contrary views to be expressed.

LBird was never banned but had his posting rights suspended (several times I recall)

    Moderator Statement.

MS, I am reluctant to intervene.

True Scotsman may well be transgressing the forum guidelines with personal attacks but not sufficiently malicious to warrant me banning him (and I speak as a person who has been the target of his insults.)

But True Scotsman can take this message as his first warning to exercise caution in his language and advice that he should begin to mend his ways. So be warned, True Scotsman and moderate your tone. It is not such a too demanding thing to expect – civility in exchanges.

A troll succeeds because others feed him.

If participants wish for his disappearance from the forum, the easiest resolution is not to reply to him and he will soon depart.

Nor are participants obliged to read his posts.

We can talk ABOUT him, but not TO him.

I am proud of this forum’s open approach and even True Scotsman acknowledges it is unique in permitting him to contribute.

    That is my moderator’s decision.

As a participant in the forum, I will endeavour to continue to rebut his claims. It may not be enough to change his entrenched conspiratorial views but other visitors can judge for themselves.

Chris Hedges, as biting as usual.

    https://www.commondreams.org/views/2022/09/12/it-time-throw-monarchies-world-dustbin-history

“Monarchy obscures the crimes of empire and wraps them in nostalgia. It exalts white supremacy and racial hierarchy. It justifies class rule. It buttresses an economic and social system that callously discards and often consigns to death those considered the lesser breeds, most of whom are people of color.”

(only thing he ignores the African kings and queens with the recent coronation of the Zulu king, Misuzulu ka Zwelithini)

The much respected Scott Ritter comments Russia is no longer fighting a Ukrainian army equipped by NATO, but a NATO army manned by Ukrainians.

SCOTT RITTER: Why Russia Will Still Win, Despite Ukraine’s Gains

“The Ukrainian battle plan has “Made in Brussels” stamped all over it. The force composition was determined by NATO, as was the timing of the attacks and the direction of the attacks. NATO intelligence carefully located seams in the Russian defenses and identified critical command and control, logistics, and reserve concentration nodes that were targeted by Ukrainian artillery, which operates on a fire control plan created by NATO.”

Ritter confirms what many have said – It is a proxy war against Russia.

    He speculates various scenarios.

“Ukraine either exhausts its will to fight and die, NATO exhausts its ability to continue supplying the Ukrainian military, or Russia exhausts its willingness to fight an inconclusive conflict.”

    His analysis is:

“I still believe the end game remains the same — Russia will win…the Kharkov offensive is, at best, a Pyrrhic victory, one that does not change the fundamental reality that Russia is winning, and will win, the conflict in Ukraine.”

Ad hominem retorts are actually an inferior method of debating and they appear to be a significant part of your “intellectual” armoury, TS.
