    US in Europe re-shapes itself

    https://www.dw.com/en/us-pentagon-planning-ukraine-command-in-germany-report/a-63297386

it would oversee the instruction of Ukrainian troops at training ranges in Germany in addition to coordinating technical support centers, such as those involved in repairing weapons provided by the US, in other countries, the report said.

The project is modeled on train-and-assist schemes instigated by the US in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past two decades, — good luck with that then…

I think we have to acknowledge that there is a right-wing anti-war faction, an evolution of the isolationist tradition, the USA had always possessed.

From 2007 and well worth a read for understanding much of the ideology of certain Republicans such as Tucker Carlson.

    The anti-war Right

    It was a strange affair.

The Kymer Rouge were removed from power by the invasion of the Vietnamese and established camps in Thailand where they were supported by Western nations including the USA and UK along with China.

I did watch his comments on the desperation of Zelensky contrasted to some of his military commanders who are with some of the Russian military trying to defuse the war. It doesn’t say whether either side had political backing.

However, I did also look at MacGregors credentials and noted that he may not be as objective as implied.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Macgregor

I also googled the dirty bomb claims. It would indeed create more radiation contamination than a battlefield nuke which we have already discussed earlier.

6 months ago the Hindustan Times cited unnamed Russian sources for the claim.

    https://www.msn.com/en-in/video/watch/ukraine-building-dirty-bomb-russia-alleges-zelensky-warns-another-nuclear-plant-is-under-threat/vi-AAUGhdi

Its origins seem to be the pre-war propaganda that Ukraine may withdraw from the Budapest Memorandum and a statement from one of the Neo-Nazi groups that a dirty bomb could be built in a month.

Finland is closing its border to Russian tourists – the last of Moscow’s EU neighbours to do so.
Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania all closed their borders to Russian tourists earlier this month. A long-standing visa-free travel agreement with Russia was suspended by Norway last week.

Surely, defection from Russia should be encouraged not hindered.

I am reminded that Marx in his analysis made it clear he was being eurocentric and did add caveats that there existed an Asian mode of production based much on state control of water and irrigation (as MS has explained).

While we look for general similarities in social systems we shouldn’t ignore important differences that have an effect on historic development.

Can the course of Indian history neglect the influence of class alone and not take into consideration caste?

An in-depth analysis of the current Swedish political scene and its shift to the right.

Why the Swedish Left Will Continue to Lose

“polls show how the youngest voters are moving away from the left parties and into the hands of the far-right, Nazi-founded SD. In 2006, of those aged 18-21 about 11% supported the Green Party and 10% supported the Left Party. By 2022, these figures dropped to 5% and 10% respectively (a drop of 6%). In contrast, those in this age cohort supporting SD increased from 3% to 22% over this time period (the only party among youth experiencing radical growth during these years).”

    A world recession?

    https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2022/9/29/is-a-global-recession-coming-more-experts-are-raising-the-alarm

As you point out – the “expert” economists don’t know

The US Fed’s goal is engineering a “soft landing” — in which it would manage to slow growth enough to curb inflation but not so much as to cause a recession.

“No one knows whether this process will lead to a recession or, if so, how significant that recession would be.” – Powell US Fed Reserve Chair

Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, Europe’s only reigning queen and the continent’s longest serving monarch, has stripped four of her eight grandchildren of their titles, the palace announced.

The official reason was to allow the four children of her youngest son, Prince Joachim, to live more normal lives, and follows similar moves by other royal families in Europe to slim down their monarchies.

It isn’t just the pound falling against the dollar. Other currencies too such as the Chinese yuan.

Simplistically, I am aware that US export market will suffer but the imports benefit but what other consequences have an overly strong dollar has?

It was Al Jazeera that brought to the public The Lobby, Israel’s attempts to discredit Corbyn.

Now they have a series called the Labour Files delving deep into the smears against Corbyn.

Seen along the ignored Ford Report, it seems as if the UK media goes in for self-censorship, hoping that investigative reporting by a foreign TV is sufficient to question its credibility

TM, I don’t think you really read their definition of what a socialist development regime is.

I tried but it is a very nuanced interpretation so I don’t claim to have an understanding.

I can’t dismiss the explanation without a lot more study of their description of it on their website

A website linked to [https://chuangcn.org] describes China as once having something called a “socialist developmental regime”, a uniquely Chinese system

I have heard of Henry George, as had Marx and Engels.
