I haven't read the links to your articles yet, but the issue isn't poverty or hunger it's demand for energy, for clean water, land suitable for farming. One reason here and now to reduce population is wages decline because there's an excess of workers. Another reason for family planning is multiple pregnancies increase threat to maternal health. As a woman and mother thats rather important to me.I know nothing about it, but I would think child slavery would also be related to high birth rates.

Did I miss it or do they not quote their sources?

I know I'm going to regret this, but where is your substantiation that overpopulation is a myth? Why do you think so? Either way I think there will be mass starvation due to peak oil. People never seem to plan and try to address problems before they become crises.

Somewhat of a digression, but can any of you recommend where to get "good" daily news reliably? Most of my friends over here in the US who know not to watch any major source have settled on Al Jazeera. Thanks

How are Trotskyists different from you? On a little bit of research which is all I had time for, all I got out of it was they want global socialism, no states or nations, as do you (and I). Mind filling me in a little as to the difference? I do know some of the history, but it's current approaches i'd like to know about. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I did see it start happening now, as I further researched and after I posted.

I guess I should clarify, not simply mechanical means, but cooperation. How would you get the governments or the people of over 200 governments to be willing to give up sovereignty which would have to happen close to simultaneously?

Thanks for this post. I was unaware of Bono's complicity."However, I've yet to meet anyone who holds Bono in high esteem'I did a quick search but couldn't find a CV for "Irish scholar Harry Browne". Could someone provide? ThanksUnfortunately there's a deceased libertarian with the same name.

I'm new to extensively evaluating socialism, but I think with the internet (democratically managed and decentralized) and computer technology, direct democracy could have a larger role than ever before.
