Yeah, had already found Wolff and Mondragon. You are correct about Gar p 53 refers to government capitalism (i.e. sponsorship of capitalist enterprises) as possibly 'socialism'. i think he's trying to promote it, but yeah, obfuscates instead. If he separated promoting co-ops, etc. with socialism, that would be preferable (sp).

"Press-ganged, Shanghaied, kidnapped into membership" No such excuse for you alanjjohnstone I don't really have a right to post, but that doesn't stop me. I'd be interested to read, but you might specify THIS socialist party. Also, don't really want to read about people 30+ years ago as much as now.

Thanks. So far into the book, at least he seems to phrase things so that people won't automatically reject 'socialism' as a knee jerk reaction.

He writes a lot of other ideas too, in this book, not limited to promoting co-ops, which I agree with you about. Could you provide the links regarding Gar, since search didn't turn up anything for me?

O, sorry I see some posts about them now that I know it's Kliman related, but if you want to recommend is OK too.

Here's an idea, ask 'em.You could keep the archives there, but saving them is not a technical challenge.course, then, people like me might post MORE and none of us wants THAT.

Unofrtunately this Pope is going to perpetuate Catholicism and make it more popular again. Cool. Limbaugh gave publicity to MArxism and alienated Catholics. It's a win win for the left.

"When it comes to true democracy, it can only be a socialist Democracy, anything less than decision- making free from wage-slavery is just a form of partial democracy."K, I'll think (and maybe research) about this more. Ok, lets allow the kids to vote too, then my friend would get his varieties of lavender chocolate and maybe I'd get a house painted in primary colors. Hmm, maybe we should allow ONLY young people to vote.

Any chance one gets to clarify meanings is great. Yes, 'Socialism,' whatever people think it means, was not successfully maligned here in the US, though they keep trying. It's gaining some chance at dialog.Oregon is one of the most left states (it has the highest population of atheists, btw) as well as Seattle being so. I lived near Portland for 15 years.
