    WORLD SOCIALIST PARTY (NEW ZEALAND) – General Administrative Committee Meeting

    Held via telephone at 51 Weymouth Road, Manurewa and 15 Tanera Crescent, Wellington

     

    DATE:                                     Sunday 7th October 2012.

     

    CHAIRPERSON:                     A Coombs.  Moved M Grayson, 2nd C Matene.

     

    OPEN:                                     2:26pm.

     

    PRESENT:                    (Committee)  Alan Coombs, Moggie Grayson, Maurice Gribble, Trevor Lovatt, Cleo Matene.

                                         (Members)   G Coffey, C Malins, J Ryder.

     

    APOLOGIES:                (Members)            V Lovatt.

     

    PREVIOUS MINUTES/ERRORS & OMISSIONS:                  

     

    Previous minutes read out.  Outcome of previous motion voted upon by Executive Committee was three votes in favour of the motion and two votes against the motion.  Toiya French has sent literature to the party library.  C Matene moved the previous minutes be accepted after errors and omissions have been amended, A Coombs 2nd.

     

    DISCUSSION ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES:

     

    1.             Radio transmitter #2 is now fixed but is not yet in operation.  Components are still at WSPNZ HQ.

    2.             Thank you to Jim Ryder for donating a book to the party library.

    3.             Thank you to Toiya French for donating literature to the party library.

     

    CORRESPONDENCE

    1.         SPC GAC – newsletter received via email.  WSPNZ GAC extends thanks to the SPC GAC for the work they are doing.

    2.           SPC – newsletter received via email with thanks.

    3.           Letter from the Trinitarian Bible Society received through the post office box.

                 C Matene moved the correspondence be accepted, M Gribble 2nd.

     

    LITERATURE SECRETARY’S REPORT:

     

    Socialist Standards for October have not arrived yet and will be posted to subscribers as soon as they are received. Next account for Socialist Standards will also include invoice for the book order of “Socialism or Your Money Back”.

     

    TREASURER’S REPORT:       

     

    M Gribble presented the treasurer’s report. Yellow Pages listing for Auckland and Wellington telephone directories will be published in their next publication. M Gribble moved the treasurer’s report be accepted and that any outstanding accounts be paid.  C Matene 2nd.  All in favour.

     

    GENERAL BUSINESS:

     

    1.             WSPNZ Executive Committee has now changed to the WSPNZ General Administrative Committee.

    2.             Discussion on the party setting up a strategy for future planning.

    3.            T Lovatt responded to talkback regular Sue Henry.  Add to list of contacts, find details of new address on the electoral roll.  Contact other groups and let them know about the WSPNZ and the Socialist movement.

    4.             Election time is an opportunity to promote the Socialist case.

    5.             Only Auckland University receives the Socialist Standards.  They pay via direct credit.  Victoria University has not subscribed for 2 years.

    6.             C Malins offers to trial Skype from his laptop for the next GAC meeting, with a view to the GAC changing from mobile telephone conference to webcam conference.  Mobile phone audio is not very audible when on speakerphone.  M Gribble moved the WSPNZ GAC trial Skype from the laptop of C Malins, with a view to the WSPNZ GAC changing from mobile telephone conference to webcam conference.  M Grayson 2nd, all in favour, motion accepted.

    NEXT MEETING:        Sunday 4th November 2012, starting at 2pm.
