    Alan Johnstone wrote (13-12-2014):

I wonder if i could have the views of the WSP(I) on caste, dalits and adivasis, and the relationship with class.

For such an important issue in India and directly affecting hundreds of millions, i am a little surprised at the lack of Marxist analysis available on the WSM websites.”

    – Binay Sarkar replied (14-12-2014):

    Thank you for your suggestion.
“Yes! we should state our position on this question. However, I had long ago done it; I should let you know that I had written a pamphlet length article in Bengali on racism and casteism – NOT CASTEISM, BUT CLASS CONSCIOUSNESS – exposing in depth the historical origin, evolution and consequences of the issues (race, religion, caste, sex etc.) in 1988 Autumn. It was published in the LAL PATAKA (the then Bengali journal of the IBRP in India). Then onwards we have been going on using this text in our campaigns (with still remaining copies of the journal at our archive).
“Anyway, in compliance with your demand I'll translate it into English for our Website as well as for the Socialist Standard. But, one thing, I doubt, if the article could be accommodated in the Standards. Moreover, it will take some time to be accomplished. We'll discuss the matter this evening (Sunday Discussion Meeting).”

    Looking forward to your comment,
