Do any of our francophones have any good accounts of what is happening in West Africa. A lot of the chatter I’m seeing is suggesting that Russia has been acting to push France out (some of it seems to be denying agency to the local actors, suggesting their only choice is who is going to dominate the, France or Russia). there does seem to be some noise suggesting the new regime’s movement has been celebrating Russia: and RT has been making a lot of noise about Africa.
With that in mind, is what we are seeing here an expansive attempt to build a new Russian empire: Syria, Ukraine, Africa? Or is it just a counter strike in Putin’s attempt to create a multi-polar world?
The worry is, France will intervene militarily, or prompt neighbouring African states to do so, and recreate the situation that bedevilled Congo for ten years or more.

This is the opinion of a Leninist organization
From the CPUSA newspaper

This is the opinion of the mouthpiece of the Russian government
It was not the same situation when Zelaya, Chavez, Castillo, Aristides, and Bosh were removed by military. A multi polar world has always existed, the capitalist powers only change places
There are several conflicts in Africa
https://en.internationalism.org/content/17347/sudan-2023-vivid-illustration-decomposition-capitalismAs always this groups sees the conflict due to so called decomposition of capitalism
Besides the USA and Russia, China is also investing a huge amount of capital in Africa

There are uranium mines there that supply the French nuclear power stations.
