URGENT CALL FOR SOCIALIST STANDARD LAYOUT MEMBER

Due to the unexpected resignation of the present Socialist Standard layout member, apparently for personal reasons, a vacancy again exists on the SSPC.
The EC yesterday issued an urgent call for nominations for a replacement SS layout member.
The EC will ensure that any member appointed has access to suitable hardware and software to arrange the Socialist Standard’s layout.
There is more information on the requirements below. Potential nominees are asked to liaise directly with the SSPC, by email to spgb.sspc@world socialism.org or in writing c/o Head Office.
Nominees would need:
* access to and a reasonable grasp of Adobe Photoshop, including resizing, cropping, adding text layers and so forth
* access to and a reasonable grasp of Adobe Indesign, including paragraph styles, text offsets, resize tools, master pages, text overflow and so on
* a decent computer running Windows 7 or 10, and home broadband
* willingness to understand and use the templates that are set up so that continuity can be maintained in the short term before experimenting in the long (i.e walk first, run later)
* a willingness to commit to a monthly deadline without fail
* an artistic eye for what looks good on a page and what doesn't
As will be clear from this list, the job is not suitable for a complete beginner. It's also quite a labour-intensive job once a month and might be better suited to an older, retired member with leisure to learn the tricks. Having said this, anybody could learn the ropes given the motivation.
I am pleased to report the EC has appointed a comrade as the Socialist Standard layout member.
Another call is made for a further member to assist with the Socialist Standard layout. The additional member the EC appointed at its November member has had a change of circumstances and has stepped down. Requirements for this position are set out in the OP.
Just in case some are misled by the title of the original post, what we are talking about now is not finding a new Lay Out member of the committee (there already is one, as will have been noticed from the change in style of front covers in recent months) but someone to help out and be made familiar with the work involved with a view to perhaps taking over at some point or at least standing in as a replacement in an emergency.
