The question is not whether the department of energy has made some bad loans (if it hasn’t, it’s not taking enough risks). It’s whether it has a pattern of bad loans. And the answer is no. Last week the department revealed that the programme that included Solyndra is on track to return profits of $5 billion or more.
One programme in the department of Energy returned $5 billion profit. The ideologists who scream about freedom and enterprise need to look at what the US is today: a deeply state run country and economy.
Beyond that, we see the G20 talking abhout planning for world growth: a planned economy is emerging. It just isn't planned in our interest. The invisible hand has lost, it's no longer a question of principle, but of politics: who gets to benefit from the planning?
