Nah, as good as they were, they weren’t even the best band on Postcard.

Thus spake another deluded Josef K-er… (actually, I’m not sure if another person actually exists)

Thanks for notice of the sale. As I say, I’m not especially a Josef K fan, though it looks like it could well be a decent read.

More generally, This recently-published book about the Scottish indie scene also looks like it might be worth picking up:

Re Aztec, HLHR (obvs not on Postcard) is undoubtedly a classic…the other albums are pretty middle-of-the-road in all respects. Some of Roddy’s solo stuff is fantastic, tho’(I love ‘Surf’).

And Prefab Sprout weren’t even the best band on Kitchenware!

A polite reminder that this thread is for great songs that are barely ever played on the radio, and not songs that are socialistic (there’s another thread for that). Though there’s nothing wrong with posting a socialistic song if you think it fits the above criteria.

I bought a wardrobe made by Motown Records, but sent it back because it could only fit four tops.

    A lost classic.

Martin Newell. Also known as the Cleaners from Venus.

Brilliant songwriter. A lost treasure . . .and all that jazz:

I’m expecting a four page review (and retrospective) in next month’s Standard.

This will be great . . . but it’s not guaranteed that I’ll get to see it. Which is a bastard shame.

Crooked Mile was my favourite album of 1987. Still holds up to this day.

    Hi imposs1904,
If, as I understand, you are currently in the US and cannot access BBC iplayer, you can purchase a VPN (there are some free ones as well), then set the vpn to the UK. You can then stream BBC player programmes. I use this technique to access Gaelic Games coverage through the RTE player. Apologies if I am teaching my granny to suck eggs.

A very different political viewpoint, but some fantastic music. Will miss Mr Harley, must have seen him 20 or so times live

Weirdly enough I first heard of Steve Harley via this rather good cover version from an unlikely source:
