Interesting passage in an article in today's Times by Tory life peer Lord Finkelstein:

    Quote:
The socialist policies of state control of industry and the "end of wage labour" would impoverish the people it was supposed to liberate.

The bit about "state control of industry" is rubbish of course (that's state capitalism not socialism) but this is the first time I've seen a recognition by critics that socialists want to see "the end of wage labour".  Let's hope they attack the idea more so the issue becomes a topic of wide public debate.

The end of wage labour would of course free people from the rationing of their wage packet or salary cheque and allow the application of the principle of "from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs". The opposite of impoverishment.

The strapline to an article in The Times today:'Wealth gap shows that capitalism is failing'.But it was only Matthew Parris saying there really are some poor people about, the very rich are too rich and the free market needs reforming.
