They don’t know the difference between Roma and Romanian. In fact the young Romanians I have met are likewise bigoted against Roma.
The easiest way to remove the danger to lives from the channel boat crossings is simply for the government to lift the rule on ferry and airline operators that all passengers must have the appropriate visas (the operators presently face hefty fines). It is these travel companies that act as the first line of immigration control, not Border Force.
Let all applications for political asylum be lodged at the port or airport of arrival and then allow the normal process be followed.
