So it’s not wishful thinking or fantasy to think that some fringe candidate in a UK election will have a meaningful sway on Israeli military policy? Another interesting take.

Says the apologist for a fringe party that has had no meaningful sway on anything or anybody in 120 years.
But keep up the preaching comrades!
June 28, 2024 at 2:52 pm #252901DJPParticipantI’m not an apologist, I’m a sympathiser. I feel very sorry for them. (Weak attempt at humour I know).
June 28, 2024 at 4:13 pm #252905Thomas_MoreParticipantSo, Lizzie, only parties that have sway should be supported, even if the reasons they have sway and are popular are wrong?
If something is the right answer, i will continue to support it even if nobody else does.
Or should we say 2+2=5 were the majority to say that’s correct?
Following the majority down popular dead ends will make you popular, but you’ll end up at a dead end just the same.

Don’t be ridiculous, More – that’s neither what I said nor implied.
I was responding to a comment made by DJP.

Is one of them that at bottom you’re attracted to or fascinated by the SPGB but unable to admit it to yourself (or to anyone else)?
June 29, 2024 at 10:08 pm #252938Bijou DrainsParticipantI think Lizzie is a bit like a soppy teenager who doesn’t know how to express their love interest. Instead of making their feelings known, they run up to their object of desire, punch them on the arm and then run away and then feel bad afterwards.
I think we should just accept the love she shows us, even if she can’t express it.
We love you too Lizzie

Ah bless Timmie.
June 30, 2024 at 9:15 am #252942ALBKeymasterHere’s what the conspiracy-mongers of The Light are saying about the election. They are backing anti-Israel independents such an Andrew Feinstein as well
as their own. A comrade from Stroud reports that that their stall there has a placard praising Jeremy Corbyn (yes Jeremy, not his nutty brother Piers). They are also supporting a candidate there who is linked to this site:https://breakpartypolitics.co.uk/
The front page article, with a cartoon based on one of Galloway’s favourite quips, is by the former LibDem MP Lembit Opik.
Anyway, here it is:

June 30, 2024 at 11:12 am #252945h.moss@swansea.ac.ukParticipantYes, ‘The Light’ just gets nuttier and nuttier. I heard something on the radio about Lembit Opik recently suggesting he’s gone even more off the rails than in the past. I also see that they’ve has managed to rail in Chomsky as a supporter (there’s an interview with him). They seem to somehow to think that his criticisms of capitalism make him one of theirs.

June 30, 2024 at 6:20 pm #252949TheMightyYoghourtParticipantI’m planning to be at my local polling booth in Cumbria early on Thursday. Is it too late to get some leaflets to hand out whilst I film myself on my mini-platform for my YouTube channel?
Jarvis Yoghourt.
June 30, 2024 at 6:43 pm #252950ALBKeymasterNo, not too late. Email your postal address to socialist party head office : spgb [at] worldsocialism.org and say how many leaflets you want.
Here is the Electoral Commission’s advice/code of conduct on campaigning outside polling places:

According to this link, campaign material is not allowed within the perimeters of a polling station. (Scroll down to campaigning on polling day).
June 30, 2024 at 7:24 pm #252953TheMightyYoghourtParticipantThanks for that, Lizzie. I already knew. But never mind. Good luck with your next snipe.
Thanks, Adam. I’ll do that next!
