The left-wingers are saying that the police and the military are not members of the working, and they can not take class consciousness, but I have seen militaries and polices general taking class consciousness and taking side with the peoples and fighting along with them. Our case includes all members of the working class must become socialists

8 Dec, 2024 18:33Syrian militants pledge to protect Russian bases – TASS
The anti-government militants and jihadists who toppled President Bashar Assad’s government in Syria have guaranteed the security of Russia’s military bases and diplomatic outposts in the country, a Kremlin source has reportedly told the TASS news agency.
Hayat Tahrir-al-Sham (HTS) jihadists and US-armed Free Syrian Army (FSA) militants stormed Damascus on Saturday, as the Syrian Army stood down and Assad left the country for asylum in Russia. HTS leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, a former al-Qaeda commander, proclaimed victory in a televised statement on Sunday, declaring that “the future is ours.”
Speaking to Russia’s TASS news agency later on Sunday, an unnamed Kremlin source said that Russian officials “are in contact with representatives of the armed Syrian opposition.”
These representatives “have guaranteed the security of Russian military bases and diplomatic institutions on Syrian territory,” the source said, adding that “we hope for the continuation of political dialogue in the name of the interests of the Syrian people and the development of bilateral relations between Russia and Syria.”
Russia intervened in the Syrian Civil War in 2015, helping Assad wrest back control of his country from Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), and a panoply of foreign-sponsored militias and jihadist groups. This time around, Moscow did not commit forces to hold back the HTS and FSA assault, with the Russian Foreign Ministry stating that Assad had decided to relinquish power peacefully following back-channel talks with several opposition groups. ”Russia did not participate in these negotiations,” the ministry noted.
Russia began construction of the Khmeimim Air Base near Latakia shortly after it came to Assad’s aid in 2015. The facility has since been used by the Russian Air Force to launch attacks on IS and other terrorist groups in Syria, and to transport supplies and weapons into the country.
Khmeimim Air Base is located around 60km from the Russian naval facility at Tartus, which was built by the Soviet Union in 1971. Russia signed a 50-year lease on the facility in 2017, allowing Moscow full sovereignty over the base and giving the Russian Navy permission to station up to 11 vessels there.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that both facilities had been placed on high alert during the insurgents’ advance on Damascus, but “there is currently no serious threat to their security.”

December 9, 2024 at 9:10 am #255562Thomas_MoreParticipantAssad had protected the non-Islamic minorities in Syria. His was also the last secular state in the region.

That is correct. Now they are going to establish a theocratic government like in Iran

December 9, 2024 at 2:00 pm #255577ALBKeymasterThe Assad regime has fallen and the people of Syria are free to determine their own destiny. Oh yeah? What were the first actions of those capitalist states which were opposed to the Assad regime? Israel took over some more of Syrian territory and bombed Damascus. Turkey bombed a town in the north and the US bombed a few in the east, treating the new government with the same contempt as they did the previous regime. All three states also have troops on the ground in Syria.
December 9, 2024 at 4:19 pm #255582CitizenoftheworldParticipantAnd the Russians are going to keep their militaries bases and their access to the Mediterranean Sea. Now, Syria is a totally military occupied nation, and from a secular nation is going to become a theocratic nation. All of them are going to divide among themselves the Syrian territory

December 9, 2024 at 5:37 pm #255585CitizenoftheworldParticipantSyrian refugees who are living in Turkey in extreme poverty are coming back to Syria to continue living under the same type of oppression and poverty under a new brutal regime, and those who are not Islamic are going to be persecuted, and without any religion freedom,
They are going to be in the middle of the frictions among the occupying armies in their struggle for territories, oil and routes, armed forces are going to continue dropping bombs and testing advanced military equipments, and the arms traders are going to produce more profits, that region is turning into a new chaos of larger proportions. Capitalism will never bring real peace to mankind
December 10, 2024 at 2:02 am #255586CitizenoftheworldParticipantThe capitalist press has not said that the US has continued dropping bombs Syria after Assad was overthrown

Syria: Imperialist Barbarism Flares Up Again
As the date indicates, the article below was written by our Italian comrades before the fall of the Assad regime, but has been updated since. It gives some indication as to what this latest piece of the imperialist puzzle might mean for the future.
Syria: Imperialist Barbarism Flares Up Again
The civil war has restarted in an already devastated Syria. The perpetrators of this renewed war against Assad come from the jihadist galaxy of the entire Middle East, such as the former al-Qaeda members led by Hayat Tahrir al Sham and Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, “disciple” of al Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraqi territory, and of Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, the caliph who proclaimed himself a descendant of Mohammed and head of the Islamic State before he met his death. They are the ones who lead the military coalition of groups such as the pro-Turkish ones, the various jihadist militants from the Caucasian areas, Uzbek militiamen, remnants of ISIS and even the Muslims (Uighurs) from Chinese Xinjiang. This jihadist galaxy which began an assault on Assad’s government occupied Aleppo and a vast amount of territory in no time, effectively establishing itself as a powerful army capable of waging a civil war against a central government which is the vassal of Russian imperialism. Obviously, the firepower of the jihadist army and the speed with which it conquered Aleppo was not exactly a bolt from the blue. We are only at the beginning, but the military reorganisation and the apparent ease with which the jihadist militiamen advanced depend on two important factors without which such a military operation would hardly have been successful
December 10, 2024 at 9:46 am #255597ALBKeymasterSo now Israel is waging war against Syria as well, taking advantage of the power vacuum there to destroy the Syrian state’s armed force.
Those who argue that the establishment of a “Jewish colony” and eventually a “Jewish state” in the former Ottoman province of Palestine was a historic mistake are being vindicated. In fact the whole Zionist project was misconceived and its implementation has proved to be a disaster both for the region, and for Jews everywhere by fuelling and feeding anti-semitism.
Some argue that Israel is just another capitalist state like any other and shouldn’t be singled out for special criticism. A case for this can be made out but this does not refute the argument that it should never have been established and that, financed and armed by the USA for its own capitalist economic and strategic reasons, it has proved to be a cancer in the region.
December 10, 2024 at 10:54 am #255602ALBKeymasterMeanwhile in the north of Syria Turkey, through its proxy gangsters called the “Syrian National Army”, is taking advantage of the situation to implement its agenda of ethnic cleansing Kurds from the western side of the Euphrates:
“The SNA’s main focus of attack then turned to Manbij, which they have just captured after fierce resistance. Since the Kurds liberated the city from ISIS, they worked hard to bring together its different ethnic groups and to incorporate them into their system of local administration. Manbij is home to around 30,000 Kurds, but is not a Kurdish city. It was an important example of the peaceful coexistence that all who care about the future of Syria’s people want to see, and was run by, and defended by, the people of different ethnicities that make up its population. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights report that SNA factions executed dozens of wounded soldiers in a military hospital north of Manbij city after blocking their evacuation, and that they have carried out identity-based killings of Kurds as well as looting and burning Kurdish property. SNA fighters have shared videos of themselves murdering men in the hospital and capturing Manbij women. The future looks grim. The SNA on the ground were supported by Turkish planes and drones.”
December 10, 2024 at 11:20 am #255603MooParticipantBizarre commentary coming from BBC News:
We’re told to celebrate the fall of the Assad regime & Syria becoming a failed state! We’re also told that Syria could now become a democracy of sorts [sic], & that the main group of jihadists who took Damascus (HTS) isn’t so bad because it’s (apparently) more moderate than the other jihadist groups!
What’s happened in Syria is a second sequel to what happened in Afghanistan in the 1980’s (Libya was the first sequel).
