It seems as if the trend to the right has once more occurred
September 14, 2022 at 3:42 am #233182alanjjohnstoneKeymasterMore details on the rise of the right
“Paralleling other right-populist movements, the party sought to portray itself as “advocating for ‘ordinary people’ against a corrupt elite at the height of a global recession,”
“They keep a hidden agenda.” He believes the party merely put a compassionate face on its neo-Nazi ideology in order to make it more socially acceptable”
” its defense of “Swedishness” brings results.
“Especially undereducated people feel a threat from the cheap labor of immigrants,” he said. “They think [the governing] Social Democrats are not representing their interests anymore.”
September 14, 2022 at 7:17 pm #233220alanjjohnstoneKeymasterSwedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson announced that she would resign after an unprecedented right-wing and far-right bloc narrowly won.
With 20.6 percent of votes counted so far the party emerged as Sweden’s second largest party behind the Social Democrats.
the post of Prime Minister will go to the leader of the Moderate Party, Ulf Kristersson.

The right-wingers are popular due to the failure of the left-wingers.
Socialism/communism is not on the agenda of the world working class. Argentina after so many years of social democrat struggles, guerrillas fighters, worshipping Che Guevara, alliance with Venezuela, Bolivia, workers are inclining toward the reactionaries right-wingers and one tried to kill the vice president
September 14, 2022 at 9:10 pm #233223alanjjohnstoneKeymasterMy worry is that the US Republicans will see it as the beginning of the end of the welfare state even though the Scandinavian right-wing will leave their social services intact. Same as the Tories in Britain simply cannot jettison the National Health Service.
There may well be changes in immigration and refugee policies but they won’t be unique. Denmark and the UK are deporting people and Sweden is taking an example from their lead.

September 20, 2022 at 9:44 pm #233400AnonymousInactiveIn the USA the right wingers have not been able to eliminate welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, social security, Civil service, unemployment and disabilities benefits, they have tried, but they have not succeeded. They tried to eliminate Obama Care which is not a big deal, and Joe Biden said: Just try it.
September 29, 2022 at 10:42 am #233863alanjjohnstoneKeymasterAn in-depth analysis of the current Swedish political scene and its shift to the right.
“polls show how the youngest voters are moving away from the left parties and into the hands of the far-right, Nazi-founded SD. In 2006, of those aged 18-21 about 11% supported the Green Party and 10% supported the Left Party. By 2022, these figures dropped to 5% and 10% respectively (a drop of 6%). In contrast, those in this age cohort supporting SD increased from 3% to 22% over this time period (the only party among youth experiencing radical growth during these years).”
