Marcos is absolutely correct. We see so much energy invested in fighting a symptom, not the system. The protesters still accept, like feminists and animal rights activists, capitalism.
But where do people learn about capitalism – from experiences and interaction with it.
We brought up to believe that the police and the State are neutral arbitrators. The protests and demonstrations tell us differently.
But then, the same anti-racist, feminist, animalist (less so) and other reformist protesters will demand “equal right to join and get promotion in the armed forces”, “equal rights in business”, “fair competition”, etc., and all that pro-capitalist junk.
At university, most of the lefty student activists “grew up” and got executive positions in the City.

There is another nationalist movement within the Mexican Americans in the USA ( Chicanos movement ) known as the reconquest of Aztlan, or to recover the South West territory taken by the USA during the war against Mexico
Also, in the American colonies from the 17th century, the death penalty was agreed by all as the punishment for atheism.
Tom Paine was not forgiven for his deist The Age of Reason, and was persecuted until his death by the same colonists for whom he alone (not Washington & Co!) had urged independence. He was also the one solitary voice among his former comrades in arms for the abolition of slavery.
