I wanted to ask if anybody here knows how many members the SPGB has?

According to the Central Organiser’s report to ADM, 332 as of August 2012.  All the threes when you re-join :-)

    Thanks gnome,
I am seriously considering rejoining and so far I am leaning towards a yes.
A little bit more arm twisting might sway it.
But to promote socialism I don’t think it is compulsory to be a party member?

No, of course it’s not “compulsory” or even necessary to be a party member; in fact there are several people I know who are not members but are firm advocates of socialism; we have one who attends our branch, for example. However, whether you decide to rejoin or not it can often prove more effective and enjoyable (well, most of the time) to work closely with like-minded people. I don’t know if you live near a branch of the party or can easily get to any meetings the party’s holding but I would strongly encourage you to continue leaning in the right direction. I don’t go in for arm twisting but occasionally have been known to be fairly persuasive.  As you’ve been a member before you don’t have to jump through the hoop of answering the questionnaire again.  You can apply to re-join at your nearest branch, or by postal or online application.http://www.worldsocialism.org/spgb/general-enquiries

I hope that isn’t code for being one of the heavies we send round with rubber truncheons to “encourage” people to join.

Unless of course SP left through disagreement in which case a statement telling us what the disagreement was and a hand-on-heart promise that there is no longer such disagreement. ;-)

    Indeed.
