This report in the Sun has probably set us back another 100 years. Or perhaps not? What do you think. Is this the Party's position? It's not mine?  It's crazy. Peraps a letter to the Editor sad

What's your problem with it? The words quoted, I mean. I think the corbyn as maggie photo is cheesy.

The SPGB twitter account words quoted in bold and italics:They said: "Outdated failing capitalism must be eradicated and replaced with socialism. "Forget about wanting to manage capitalism to make it nicer." The tweet was accompanied by a snap of Jeremy's face on former Tory PM Margaret Thatcher. The party argues that Mr Corbyn's definition of socialism isn't good enough, and they want a "class-free, state-free, money-free society with free access". The party also tweeted out an article written today which argued that "Jeremy Corbyn is a real threat to the working class, but they still haven't realised" and labelled the party "delusional"      Not necessarily my choice of words, but there's nothing quoted that I could disagree with.

I agree the quote is fine. The problem I have  is claiming that Corbyn is the same as Thatcher when he clearly is not. Thatcher openly opposed Trade Unions and set about murdering its members by starvation and violence. Corbyn openly supports trade unions and seeks to use the law to encourage trade union activity and growth.

Did the tweet really say Corbyn was right wing? What did the tweet say?

The Sun has made that bit up but the meme gives an inaccurate message IMHO   Jeremy Corbyn‏Verified account @jeremycorbyn  Sep 28MoreHappy 80th birthday to Alice Mahon. The Sun also said "In a tweet to the Labour leader, the official Socialist Party account said to him that socialism must replace capitalism in Britain".  Which makes it sound like the SPGB suppports the idea of "socialism in one country".  I think the Sun needs to be  corrected.

Yes I'm sure they don't want to tarnish their reputation for accurate reporting.

LOL DJP but, yes, I suppose you could approach  them (with tonque firmly in cheek)  out of concern that their reputation might be tarnished.  Flattery will get you everywhere

Thats true enough Vin – you cant really compare Corbyn to Thatcher  as far as their personal beliefs are concerned – but, on the other hand, it does occur to me that this might be to overtheorise the issue.  The image of  Jeremy Thatcher  works at the level of a meme.  Like the worm eating away at the apple's core it is has the effect of jolting the viewer/reader into rethinking what might be the overall impact of a Corbyn government.  Whatever Corbyn might think, you can't operate this rotten system of capitalism in the interests of the "many not the few" and Corbyn like Thatcher, even if reluctantly (unlike Thatcher) will be obliged to operate the system in the interests of the few against the many If that simple message gets through, the image might have some value after all and help to counter the rather disturbing cultish  following Corbyn seems to be collecting around his person (probably through no fault of his own) which is defintely not a healthy development and is decidedly anti-socialist

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that this shows the value of social media in getting a message across. I think it's to be expected that The Scum will get it wrong, (I don't even think it is a deliberate distortion, just shit thick journalists). It might mean that a few of the readership might be curious enough to find out about what we are really saying. Another good point is the reference all the way through to us as the Socialsit Party, they might get a few complaints from the SPEWERS,I am also happy with this bit in the article as well "The party argues that Mr Corbyn's definition of socialism isn't good enough, and they want a "class-free, state-free, money-free society with free access". Too bloody right, pity they didn't mention that it has been our principled standpoint for 113 years!I do think that photoshopping Jezza into Thatcher was a bit childish though.

Max is good at socialist agit-pro and satirical stuff. He used to have website dedicated to it.
