http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25162946Just listened to this item on the 8 o'clock news and wish to officially complain about this being described here as a "Marxist commune" when clearly they had nothing to do with Marx but were followers of the Chinese dictator Mao.In any event I'd be interested in your justification for using the word "Marxist" rather than "Maoist". Is this BBC policy or just a mistake on the part of an unprofessional journalist?

JUst noticed that the word "Marxist" has since been changed to "Maoist". Didn't know I had such influence !Looks as if it was an incompetant sub-editor or news reader after all.

That is the legacy left by Leninism.Marxists and Marxism have been associated with bank robbers. There is a nationalist group which took 7.2 millions from Wells Fargo Bank, and  they consider themselves as Marxists, and the FBI says  that they are Marxists too. During the 19th Century workers did not have any fear toward socialism, but now, they do. The rulers have used the same allegations of the left wingers in order to used them against socialism

As the 1978 Lambeth by-election has come up here and also on Ian Bone's blog I've just posted our candidate's recollections of this in the World Socialist Movement section here:http://www.worldsocialism.org/spgb/forum/world-socialist-movement/1978-lambeth-election
