The Purge films are horrible rubbish, but i’ve just found out the horrific origin of the idea.
Every year, in Autumn, the ancient Spartans would hunt their slaves and murder some, in order to keep the slave numbers down. 😱
This was because the Spartans, the only Greek city-state that depended 100% on slavery, lived in constant fear of slave revolts.
