    That’s such sad news. I only met Jimmy a couple of times about 20 years ago, but he immediately struck me as a good comrade with a good, sardonic sense of humour.

    Another SPGBer, B.G., who knew Jimmy well wrote the following comment on Facebook:

    “Ach, very sorry to hear. He was a good age of course. Lovely gentle guy. First met him in Ediburgh branch in 1980s when he was much respected by a branch full of uni professors. A wonderful outdoor speaker he came alive on the platform at the Mound. He swore like a trooper off it but as soon as he was representing the Party he made sure nothing interfered with his forceful and often hilarious propagandising. He stood for the party at the first Scottish elections. Radio Scotland broadcast one of the hustings debates and I remember him cutting thru our opponents’ Blairite bullshit in his strong east coast accent and railed against the poverty of capitalism”
