This is another quite useful piece on the extent of Nazi influence in Ukraine

Do what we say, not what we do.

After Russia recognised two separatist regions in eastern Ukraine as independent, top US officials have warned multiple times the “principle that one country cannot change the borders of another by force” is under threat. Blinken himself also has repeatedly asserted US support for Ukraine’s “territorial integrity“.

Three years after Trump recognised Israeli claims to Syria’s occupied Golan Heights, Biden has not reversed the decision. The declaration that the Golan belongs to Israel is a clear violation of international law.

Everything Russia has done, Israel has too, including bombing civilians and assassinating opponents. The US and its protected allies could easily bring Israel to heel even if it has the nuclear bomb but choose not to for strategic reasons. Prize hypocrites.

Every atrocity committed by Russia ( and the ex Soviet Union ) have been committed around the world by the USA and the western powers and most world dictators have been their ally and they have overthrown their own friends and allies The USA has intervened more than 132 times in Latin America and they have sent troops and they have military bases

I didn’t know that Karl Marx was Russian. Are these university teachers reading any books? Pure ignorance

Russian-backed separatists now controlled 93 percent of Ukraine’s Luhansk region and 54 percent of the Donetsk region – the two areas that jointly make up the Donbas.

“The main objectives of the first stage of the operation have generally been accomplished,” Sergei Rudskoi, head of the Russian General Staff’s Main Operational Directorate, said. “The combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been considerably reduced, which … makes it possible to focus our core efforts on achieving the main goal, the liberation of Donbas.”

‘I didn’t know that Karl Marx was Russian.’

    https://www.indy100.com/news/karl-marx-university-florida-russia

This article is interesting in more ways than one:

‘Marx influenced the world with his book, The Communist Manifesto in 1848. Although some cite Marx’s work as inspiration for Russia’s communist revolution, most historians agree it was not implemented the way Marx intended.’

    Metro

    Kiss it goodbye

This will hurt Putin’s thugs and cronies

BRITAIN humiliated one of Vladimir Putin’s closest allies yesterday as it slapped sanctions on the glamorous stepdaughter of Russia’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov.

Polina Kovaleva, who bought a mortgage-free £4.4million home in central London* at 21, dazzled followers on social media with a ‘NON STOP HOLIDAY’** lifestyle. But in a move welcomed by anti-corruption campaigners, the 26-year-old had her bank accounts and assets frozen — along with another 64 of the president’s ‘oligarchs, businesses and hired thugs’.

    *Kensington
    ** my emphasis

Will workers see this and think she and other oligarchs are parasites? While we are facing the worst ‘squeeze’ on living standards for 50 years.

Did anybody attend the Stand with Ukraine rally in London?

Is there much point in leafletting such Ukrainian patriotic events?

A sensible, pragmatic compromise to avoid unnecessary bloodshed (instead of the dangerous, crackpot government advice of throwing Molotov cocktails at oncoming tanks):

“A mayor in a Ukrainian town occupied by Russian forces has been released from captivity and the soldiers have agreed to leave after a mass protest by residents.
Slavutych, a northern town close to the Chernobyl nuclear site, was taken by Russian forces but stun grenades and overhead fire failed to disperse unarmed protesters on its main square on Saturday.
The crowd demanded the release of mayor Yuri Fomichev, who had been taken prisoner by the Russian troops.
Attempts by Russian troops to intimidate the growing protest failed and on Saturday afternoon Fomichev was let go by his captors.
An agreement was made that the Russians would leave the town if those with arms handed them over to the mayor with a dispensation for those with hunting rifles.
Fomichev told those protesting that the Russians had agreed to withdraw “if there are no [Ukrainian] military in the city”.
The deal struck, the mayor said, was that the Russians would make a search for Ukrainian soldiers and arms and then depart. One Russian checkpoint outside the city would remain.”

Once again, the source of the article must come with its own caveats of bias but it does highlight the very effective use of news media manipulation in this war and in particular the BBC acceptance of Ukrainian claims

BBC correspondent-fixer shaping Ukraine war coverage is PR operative involved in “war-messaging tool”

Whatever the truth of the matter, yet again we have difficulty in determining what is propaganda.

The same author, the same website on the alleged Mosque bombing but also highlighting the role of the Azov Battalion in supposedly destroying the theatre as a false flag

Was bombing of Mariupol theater staged by Ukrainian Azov extremists to trigger NATO intervention?

On the face of it Rutskoi’s statement is absurd. If ‘freeing Donbas’ were Russia’s main objective, what prevented them from doing it right at the start? It’s the only part of the country where the population is not hostile to Russia. Donbas has been peripheral to the fighting up to now. I suspect that placing the emphasis on Donbas is a way of indirectly scaling down goals for other parts of Ukraine as part of a face-saving exit strategy.
