Yes, and by the same logic, they should support Hitler’s intervention in the Sudetenland to protect the self-determination of ethnic Germans.

A very interesting article about ‘Makhnovism’ on the ‘Open Democracy’ website: ‘Anarchism in the homeland of Makhno’: https://www.opendemocracy.net/ru/–48/. Unfortunately it seems to be available only in Russian; at least I can’t find an English version. The argument is that the image most Ukrainians have of Makhno comes from Soviet-era films and other propaganda, which portrayed him as a bandit, Ukrainian nationalist and antisemite. Ukrainian nationalists have added him to their pantheon of nationalist heroes on the basis of this false image. ‘Makhno’ has great prestige in Ukraine, but only a few well-informed anarchists know what he really stood for.

Further confusing for modern Ukrainians is the use of the black and red flag (diagonal = anarchist; horizontal = Azov Batallion).

    Putin remains determined

    https://www.france24.com/en/europe/20220315-live-poland-calls-for-nato-peace-mission-to-help-ukraine

Putin said Wednesday that his military campaign in Ukraine was a success and that he would not allow the country to become a “springboard” used to threaten Russia. “The operation is developing successfully and in strict accordance with plans,” he said in a televised government meeting.

Putin said on Wednesday that Russia was ready to discuss Ukraine’s neutral status in talks aimed at ending hostilities there, but that Moscow would still achieve the goals of its military operation, which was “going to plan”. He said the West had effectively declared Russia in default as part of its sanctions over the conflict in Ukraine, and that the conflict had merely been a pretext for the West to impose sanctions.

The so-called “International Court of Justice” have just ordered Russia to stop its invasion of Ukraine. What a joke but good because it will show how powerless legal rulings are to stop wars. Russia will take no notice of it whatsoever, and nobody else expects it to make the slightest difference, confirming that in relations between capitalist states might is right, not what a bunch of petty-fogging logic-choppers might order. Cushy job with good pay, though.

The decision wasn’t even taken on legal grounds (even though wrapped up in legal
    language) but was patently political:

“The court ruled by 13 votes to two for a provisional order that “the Russian Federation shall immediately suspend military operations that it commenced on 24 February 2022 in the territory of Ukraine”. Only the Russian and Chinese judges on the court voted against the order.”

Let’s not overlook that the International Court of Justice found the USA guilty of violating international law by supporting the Contras against the Nicaraguan government and then mining the country’s sea-ports

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicaragua_v._United_States

Ordered to pay reparations, the United States refused despite UN General Assembly voting two times for the USA to comply.

Nor let us forget what is nicknamed the Hague Invasion Act, authorising the USA to take military action if at any time its citizens or of its allies face trial before the International Criminal Court,

So much for the international rule of law being applied to super-powers.

In regards to the UK, it is flouting international court decisions against its so-called soverignty of the Chagos Islands

Biden has just denounced Putin as a “war criminal” so, as the US doesn’t like the ICC, where does he propose he should be tried?

In a kangaroos court like in Iraq

The USA did not have any jurisdiction over the case of Sadam Hussein after they supported his crimes for many years, and they did not want to provide any legal defence to him as it was required by law and an American lawyer became his legal defender. The whole process was a sham.

Enemy combatants. Most of the prisoners of Guantanamo were in legal limbo for many years, and so lawyers did not want to represent them because they were going to be accused of collaboration with terrorists. Most of them were young and they were innocents, and some were people that were picked in their neighbourhood and accused of terrorism without any evidence

aid at the Nuremberg trial:” We all should be here”, he meant all the military power involved in WW2

Barrack Obama and the ICC ( Constitutional Law professor )

Unfortunate but Unsurprising? Obama Undermines the ICC

The USA presidents speak without checking the past. Assange is in jail because he published all the crimes committed by the USA in Iraq and Afghanistan
