“I will NOT apologise and if TS who we have permitted a platform for his beliefs doesn’t like being on the receiving end of the treatment he himself dishes out almost daily, he is free to depart from the forum and never to return to it.”

😂😂😂
You do know what depleted uranium is, don’t you?”Hahaahahahahahahahaahahahahahah.
So, Bojo’s half a brain cell, tell me all about how depleted uranium isn’t radioactive.

March 23, 2023 at 12:08 am #241738Bijou DrainsParticipantSupporting Alan’s remarks, True Nazi is happy to make use of our approach to free expression. Like the typical red fascist he is, he’s less happy to allow others to express their views.
Thankfully he and the fascist scum he represents have neither the wit or the insight to understand that by allowing him and his ilk we are exposing them for what they are.
We have no need or desire to censor them, allowing fascists like him to speak, with all of his talk of turning fellow human beings into fertiliser, shows the world the reality of what he actually is.
March 23, 2023 at 12:21 am #241739TrueScotsmanBlocked“so if you’re right (there’s always a first time) then the risk is minimal, unless of course you are wrong (which is more than likely judging by your track record)”
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaahah.
OK Einstein, tell me how I’m wrong. Tell me how depleted URANIUM, isn’t radioactive. Hahaahahahahahahaahahahahahahhahaha,
By now it should be clear to any disinterested observer that Bojo’s half brain cell is not a serious person. He’s a clown only interested in cheap rhetorical point scoring. I suspect he’s a juvenile still in his teens. No wonder your “party” only has 300 members after a century. This is the caliber of intellectual in your organisation. Hahaahaahahahahaahaaahahahahahahah!
March 23, 2023 at 12:59 am #241741alanjjohnstoneKeymasterDEPLETED uranium
What is being depleted?
What do the experts say?
https://www.iaea.org/topics/spent-fuel-management/depleted-uranium
What is the effect of alpha radiation?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_particle
However, I am a proponent of the precautionary principle and as there are legitimate questions about alpha radiation particles being inhaled or ingested by pregnant women with a risk of birth deformities, there is no pressing need to supply DU tank shells.
I have already linked to two articles on the general environmental damage caused by the war, and the risks to health are significantly higher with these.

TS is a party of one. You can’t get any smaller than that.
March 23, 2023 at 3:30 am #241746TrueScotsmanBlockedAll in, I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and admit to the possibility you may have misrembered me saying I wished Ukraine irradiated. I brought the fact of this being false to your attention, you went back and found no evidence supporting your claim. Instead of then retracting your mistaken claim as any normal person would do you misdirect. Everyone can see for themselves that you owe a retraction. Man up.

March 23, 2023 at 3:41 am #241748TrueScotsmanBlocked“What is the effect of alpha radiation?”
“Due to the short range of absorption and inability to penetrate the outer layers of skin, alpha particles are not, in general, dangerous to life unless the source is ingested or inhaled.”
You clown. What do you think happens to a depleted uranium shell when it hits a tank? A good portion of it vaporises turning into aerosolised particles that can then be breathed into the lungs going on to cause cancers and birth defects.
I can’t believe you jokers are trying to deny the toxicity of depleted uranium shells just because it was I who provided a link to the story. You are ideologues purely interested in scoring cheap rhetorical victories. You are not serious people. Your party is not a serious party. Lol
March 23, 2023 at 4:29 am #241749alanjjohnstoneKeymasterTS, now plays the game of victim. I remain unimpressed.
I have nothing to retract.
As a moderator if I have had a failing it has been being too tolerant of the name-calling, something I do not normally indulge in.
Can TS, say the same about the repeated slurs of the well past the sell-by-date humour, word-play on my name and the CIA?
I have made my position crystal clear on the use of DU in an earlier post. A risk is said to exist to civilians and they shouldn’t be used.
The campaign to ban their use should be supported.
I await Russia to signal the removal of their supply of DU weaponry
https://tass.com/defense/1036958
“The use of depleted uranium ammunition does not violate any international treaties” Tass cited in its report
I have no idea if they have been used in Ukraine by Russia. Nor does TS. I can only hope they have not and will not. I don’t sympathise with the politics of tit-for-tat.
Russia is conflating DU ammunition with a dirty bomb and WMDs in a propaganda battle which TS is also promoting with his terms such as radioactive hellhole.
It was first reported back in January by Konstantin Gavrilov, head of Russia’s delegation on the OSCE forum on security cooperation, claimed that Ukraine could arm their German-supplied Leopard 2 tanks with ‘uranium core armour-piercing’ shells.
March 23, 2023 at 7:04 am #241750robbo203Participant“Britain to turn Ukraine into radioactive hell-hole.”
______________
Unlike the antisocialist warmonger, TS, who endorses the idea of turning fellow workers into “fertiliser”, I obviously oppose the deployment of weapons of any kind on both sides of this conflict. But the above claim does seem to be a hyperbole. Yes, a nuclear bomb would turn Ukraine into a radioactive hell-hole but DU tank-piercing shells??? Sure they are radioactive but how radioactive are they? You can’t really compare them with the impact of a nuclear missile
Here´s a quote:
“The UK confirmed it would provide Kyiv the armour-piercing rounds alongside Challenger 2 tanks – but insisted they have a low risk of radiation.
Depleted uranium “is a standard component and has nothing to do with nuclear weapons”, the MoD said.
“The British Army has used depleted uranium in its armour piercing shells for decades,” the statement added.
“Russia knows this, but is deliberately trying to disinform. Independent research by scientists from groups such as the Royal Society has assessed that any impact to personal health and the environment from the use of depleted uranium munitions is likely to be low.”
Former British Army tank commander – and chemical weapons expert – Col Hamish de Breton-Gordon, said Mr Putin’s comments were “classic disinformation”.
He said depleted uranium rounds used by Challenger 2 tanks contained only trace elements of depleted uranium.
He added it was “laughable” to suggest depleted uranium rounds were in any way linked to nuclear weapons, which uses enriched uranium.
Depleted uranium is what is left over after natural uranium has been enriched, either for weapons-making or for reactor fuel.
It is mildly radioactive in its solid form. But it is a very heavy substance, 1.7 times denser than lead, and it is used to harden rounds so that they can penetrate armour and steel.
When a weapon made with a depleted uranium tip or core strikes a solid object, like the side of a tank, it goes straight through it and then erupts in a burning cloud of vapour.
The vapour settles as dust, which is poisonous and also weakly radioactive.”
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65032671
The article also goes on to say:
“A 2022 UN Environment Programme (UNEP) report said depleted uranium was an environmental concern in Ukraine.
“Depleted uranium and toxic substances in common explosives can cause skin irritation, kidney failure and increase the risks of cancer,” it said.
“The chemical toxicity of depleted uranium is considered a more significant issue than the possible impacts of its radioactivity,” it added.”
Perhaps TS is confusing Toxicity with radioactivity?

What you said is a lie. What I said is the truth. Did you not say “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” when referring to the CIA? We both know you did say that. I, on the other hand, never said I wished Ukraine radiated. That makes you a liar. Especially since you’re doubling down on the canard.

Absolutely spot on, TS. I’m beginning to think this list should be renamed the alanjjohnstone forum.
It’s about time the SPGB’s Internet Committee appointed a replacement moderator.

TS, can you please cite the exact post so people can decide what context the phrase was used in?
