    Gazprom…

    https://www.dw.com/en/why-the-eu-needs-russian-energy-giant-gazprom/a-60674774

43% of the natural gas consumed in the EU comes from Russia.
Germany draws about 55% of its gas from Russia.

Surprisingly, US imported more oil from Russia than came fromSaudi Arabia.

It looks as if wiser counsels are beginning to prevail:

“French President Emmanuel Macron has said he thinks a deal to avoid full scale war in Ukraine is possible and that it is legitimate for Russia to raise its own security concerns.
Before talks in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, he called for a “new balance” to protect European states and appease Russia.”

“However, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba appeared to play down the threat of an imminent invasion, tweeting on Sunday: “Do not believe the apocalyptic predictions. Different capitals have different scenarios, but Ukraine is ready for any development.”

Point made: when Ukraine is a NATO member, and then attacks Crimea, Russia will be forced to act, which will be a war against NATO with all of us as a target.

German Chancellor humbled after meeting with Biden. Germany now towing line.

The U.S. is not about to let wiser voices prevail. Macron will be humbled next.

A reason for Germany’s non-belligerent position I have referred to earlier Nord Stream energy supply. Germany is 55% dependent upon Russia.

Now, we have the USA issuing threats against Germany.

Speaking after talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz Biden said the US would “bring an end” to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
“I promise you we will be able to do it.”

    How exactly?

Getting it stopped by the US allies in the Baltics, whose waters it crosses.

Now the media are all going to be attacking Macron; calling him a troublemaker for trying to save all our lives!

This passage from that Washington Post article, referring to the Ukrainian President Zeletsky, was interesting, even revealing:

“He has projected an air of calm, denouncing what he and his advisers have characterized as a geopolitical fight between Russia and the West that has little to do with Ukraine itself.”

He seems to know what’s going on.

But it has to do with Ukraine, but not in the way of an “invasion.”

I mean, if the West doesn’t remove the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, then Putin will be forced to attack.

How is Ukraine ever going to relinquish the NATO idea whilst it remains a pro-west state? How can it relinquish its claim on its eastern provinces and Crimea, without election suicide for its aspirant presidents?

And what about Ukraine’s pro-westernism, if NATO procrastinates interminably over membership?

Much more like I’d buy AlJazeera’s take long before The Mail or any of them.
