From Amazon – “Jon Key was born in Cambridge in 1974 where he grew up with his mother, father, and his brother Tim. He studied engineering at Cambridge University before spending his career in a number of executive and consultancy jobs with public and private companies before running his own company.

Along the way, Jon has taught English in China, took part in a round-the-world yacht race, and run in ten marathons. He has lived in Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America and travelled and worked across the world. He lives with his wife Ali and their four children in London.

Jon specialises in solving critical and complex challenges for CEOs and their leadership teams. Throughout his life, he has tried to learn from his own experiences and those of others and to apply the lessons every day to new situations, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.”

Interesting that despite being so important in the world and vital to all of us, business consultants were not included in the list of key workers needed to maintain society during the pandemic, I wonder why that was?

Anyway even if he specialises in solving “critical and complex challenges”, he’s going to have his hands full trying to sort out capitalism.

Booked delivery for Monday to Royal Mail of 47,700 leaflets for distribution free by them in Clapham and Brixton Hill, presumably some time next week.

Look especially at the completely conventional and reformist statement of the TUSC, not a single mention of either capitalism or socialism (which of course is good). She sounds as if she might not even be a member of SPEW.

We need to send this site our candidate’s manifesto.

He’s just offering more of the same, not even to fix potholes in SW4.

    Kent and Sussex branch report:

“Our election address is due to go to royal mail on Monday for 47,200 letter boxes and the first of 6000 copies of the “Let’s end” flyer have started being delivered in our 2 target wards. In between rain storms we plan to get as many out as possible before postal voting starts.”

One of the things that happens when you contest a general election is that the candidate gets inundated with emails from pressure groups and single-issue campaigners with requests to say where you stand on a particular issue. Our candidate in Clapham and Brixton Hill has had emails asking, among other things, to support the decriminalisation of sex work and to take action against the cost-of-living crisis.

They are being sent the following standard reply:

“The Socialist Party is standing a candidate in this election solely on the basis of creating a world of common and democratic ownership of the productive wealth of society, so that we will no longer need buying and selling and will instead produce to meet the needs of all members of society.
We are not standing to administer or govern in a capitalist society.
If elected, and we do not have the majority we need to make this fundamental transformation of society, our candidate will vote on issues as agreed by the members of our party based upon the interests of the working class under capitalism.”

The 47,700 “election communication” from our candidate in Clapham and Brixton Hill for free distribution by Royal Mail were delivered this morning to their Hounslow centre. They will be sent out tomorrow to the various distribution offices covering the constituency and will presumably be dropping through letter boxes soon after.

Voters in Clapham and Brixton Hill have been invited to contact our candidate through this:

A number have done so and are being sent this link:

The leaflets for distribution outside the two constituencies we are contesting arrived today. 3000 or so were sent on to branches and individuals who pre-ordered. Some 400 were distributed in Battersea (which we contested in 2017). A Labour poster was spotted. These are no longer just in red but now incorporate in one corner the colours of the Union Jack, confirming that party’s even further degeneration.
