Big Issue don’t give us any information about front pages or content.  Ask the seller if you can peruse before buying.

True, just depends if they let you try before I buy….I would then feel bad to not buy it…

Oh also Dave. Thought I’d mention. I got sent out two editions of May’s Standard. One came early May the other yesterday. I’ll pass it on to somebody interested.

Oh dear, James, that will never do!  I’ll check the database when I next go to HO.

Despite a reminder the Surrey Advertiser has refused to publish this correction to their mistake in saying that we stood for “Lexit” as a “pro-worker EU exit”:

“I am afraid your description of our policy in your piece on the European elections last week was mistaken. We were not advocating so-called “Lexit” (a leftwing Brexit). We are not a petty British nationalist party. We were for neither Leave nor Remain as, in both cases, capitalism and so the problems it causes would continue. It exists in the EU and would in a Brexit Britain. What we were proposing as the alternative to both Leave and Remain was replacing the capitalist system of ownership by the few and production for profit by common ownership, democratic control and production directly to meet people’s needs, not just in Europe but throughout the world.”

Their formal complaints procedure is being invoked with a view to obliging them to publish a correction.

I am quite surprised by this because back in the days when there was an active branch in Guildford,  the Surrey Advertiser would definitely have been more amenable .   Did they give a reason for refusing to publish a correction?  Of course, there is always the option of writing a letter to the Letters Page which may in fact be preferable  to getting them to publish a correction inasmuch as it would stand out more prominently.   As I remember it, the Advertiser was notable for its Letters page and Guildford Branch members must have had well in excess of 100 letters published in that paper over the lifespan of  that branch.   But of course, things may have changed now….

Yes it is odd as the Surrey Advertiser is not the rag that most local papers have become. It is still in broadsheet format and has 3 to 4 pages of letters. In fact I have had a couple published in recent years.

I don’t know why they have ignored my email corrections (sent to the letters page). Maybe they didn’t get through or something. This time I have written so I am sure there’ll be a response, hopefully positive.

The result for Milton Keynes is now up on the council website. It’s 104 out of 61,425 (0.17%), compared with 182 out of 65,481 (0.28%) las time.  Another indication that our vote dropped less in Leave than in Remain areas (Milton Keynes voted Leave in almost exactly the same proportion as nationally.)

The Surrey Advertiser have replied saying they are going to publish in this week’s edition (out on Friday) the letter correcting their mistake that we stood for Lexit and explaining our real position on Leave or Remain. I am sure they will but I check on Friday.

    The < em>Surrey Advertiser has duly published today that letter of correction under their (good) heading of “Our alternative to leave or remain” and layout;

I am afraid your description of our policy in your piece on the European elections in the Surrey Advertiser on May 17 (pages 12 and 13) was mistaken.

We were not advocating so-called “Lexit” (a leftwing Brexit).

We are not a petty British nationalist party.

We were for neither Leave nor Remain as, in both cases, capitalism and so the problems it causes would continue.

It exists in the EU and would in a Brexit Britain.

Hi, I’ve not been following the Election tbh. I’m on a site, where at least  3 people are engaged in constant vitriol and derision of the party and myself.

There’s  an meme one user’s uses of Marx, it reads: liposuction clinics hate him because his central planning leads to guaranteed weigh loss.

Another mocks us that we got 117 votes in one election? This nutcase went to the trouble to look this up? He’s obviously delusional and obsessed.

I posted a tweet by our Twitter moderator, that shows how many interactions we get on Twitter, 1.5M in a month! Seems some loon went to the trouble to post what Twitter means by  interactions! That people scanned, but not actually looked or engaged our tweets?  He questioned how much of the interaction was trolling abusive? I replied: it was incredible response for very little effort. So, seeing that we got  3,505 votes is very encouraging and might shut these nutcases up!

I unfortunately took the decision to     deleted my account in protest at these morons. I plan to go back soon, in incognito, to embarrass them, if the opportunity arises.

Let the mockers mock, James.  During the election period this forum was receiving over 2k visitors every 24 hours (over twice the usual figure) and the number of enquirers to Head Office requesting further information about the Party has now reached almost 200.
