    New parties of the left: event schedule

    MelTsA day of debate organised by London Socialist Resistance

    With Stathis Kouvelakis (Syriza), Kate Hudson (Respect), Adam Hanieh (author and activist), Sandra Demarcq (NPA – France), Andrew Burgin (CoR), Alan Thornett (Socialist Resistance), Michael Voss (Red Green Alliance – Enheidlisten, Denmark), and Phillipe Nadouce (Front de Gauche).

    · Kate Hudson (Respect and author of The New European Left: a socialism for the twenty-first century?);

    · Stathis Kouvelakis on the crisis in Greece and the challenges ahead for Syriza;

    · Michael Voss, Red-Green Alliance, a broad anti-capitalist party in Denmark with 12 MPs and scoring over 12% in polls.

    · Adam Hanieh on independent parties for workers and farmers in developing countries and Arab ones in particular;

    · Chair: Susan Pashkoff, Socialist Resistance

    13:30 – 14:45: Workshops

    1. Greece: Political and social resistance. How and why Syriza? What does the crisis in Greece means for Europe? Speakers: Stathis or Giorgos B (Syriza), Eleni (Greece Solidarity Campaign) and Terry Conway (Socialist Resistance).

    2. Britain: How can the left unite? How do we build a new political representation for the working class? How do we challenge New Labour? What role for the unions? Speakers: Liam Mac Uaid (Socialist Resistance), Andrew Burgin (CoR in a personal capacity), chair: Steph Grant.

    3. France: What is the Hollande government doing? Where is the resistance coming from? How can the left work together? Sandra Demarcq (NPA) and Phillipe Nadouce (Front de Gauche).
