They have already took Press TV off the air a long time ago, now they are targetting RT.

I stopped watching RT ages ago despite them having George Galloway and Alex Salmond as programme presenters. I never found Lee Camp particularly funny.

RT is accused of bias and misinformation and i cannot deny those allegations. But i await for the same criteria to be used against Fox TV and even the BBC. (many know i have a special loathing for the UK government’s mouth-piece)

Chances of anything happening to the precious BBC are zero….

    The Media Propaganda Heats up.

The Times last week published a list of names and photographs of eight reporters working for the Moscow-backed Sputnik’s UK bureau in Edinburgh. Russian officials reacted angrily, saying the report put Sputnik’s journalists in danger.

A list of 44 BBC reporters working in Russia has been leaked online, along with their photographs, amid growing pressure on the broadcaster in Russia.

Do what we say, not what we do

George Galloway reprimanded for not offering contrary opinions on his Talk Radio programme.

I rather enjoy GG’s style even though I strongly disagree but he has never ever claimed to be neutral, impartial or without bias which the BBC is forever claiming.

I think we can say that there is innumerable occasions that the BBC does not offer a counter-balance and when it chooses an ineffectual voice.

A regulator should oversee tech giants like Google and Facebook to ensure their news content is trustworthy, a government-backed report has suggested.
The Cairncross Review into the future of the UK news industry said such sites should help users identify fake news and “nudge people towards reading news of high quality”. The report called for a new Institute for Public Interest News.
Such a body, it said, could work in a similar way to the Arts Council, channelling public and private funding to “those parts of the industry it deemed most worthy of support”.

And who is defining the high quality of news…did someone say  the pro-Iraq invasion cheer-leading of the BBC and the Guardian and the promotion of fake news stories to justify it.

And who deems which news provider “most worth of support” – ahhhh, government appointed quango members like the Arts Council.

Pressure the Big Boys…and soon these Big Boys will pressure us Little Uns who run blogs or Twitter accounts …yup, I am getting paranoid…

Anyone who views terrorist propaganda once online can be jailed for up to 15 years under new laws that criminalise viewing “information useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism”, which goes further than much-used laws that made physically collecting, downloading or disseminating the material illegal. Only journalists, academic researchers or people who had “no reason to believe” they were accessing terrorist propaganda are exempt.

The new law was introduced as part of the Counter-Terrorism and Border Security Act, which received royal assent this week.

A United Nations inspector accused the government of straying towards “thought crime” with the proposal.

A report by the Joint Committee on Human Rights said the offence “is a breach of the right to receive information and risks criminalising legitimate research and curiosity”.

An article on the hypocrisy of the Guardian and its dismissal of Jeremy Hardy for being “too left-wing” to be employed as a columnist.

    Dump the Guardian

Isn’t it worrisome that it is the right wing that is successfully exposing the bias of the media and in particular the BBC. Just like Trump has done, Tommy Robinsons of the world are drawing attention to the fakery of the media in setting the political agenda and limiting the perspective of it.

He attracted 4000 and that is not a bad number of protesters, compared with less than 1000 counter-demonstrators

Media Lens doing its usual demolition job on the journalists self-image of their integrity and objectivity.

    “We Don’t Do Propaganda”

” …‘We don’t do propaganda’. This is a deadly myth. Deadly, because it masks the fact that corporate media, especially BBC News, are responsible for propaganda that pushes more Western ‘intervention’, more war, more stolen natural resources, more mass deaths of innocent civilians, more refugees, more corporate profits, more fossil-fuel burning, more species loss and, ultimately, more planetary destruction; perhaps even human extinction in an era of climate chaos….”

The author seems to have been carried away a bit. Of course the BBC carries out propaganda (for British capitalist interests just as RT does for Russian) but propaganda that pushes “human extinction”? The author seems to forget that Sir David Attenborough never seems to be off BBC2.  Or maybe they’re just a bit writer, e.g they should have put a colon not a comma after “Western ‘intervention'”.

Worth a read in how the media continually defines the right-wing as centrist moderates.

    https://www.commondreams.org/views/2019/03/23/everyone-washington-supports-definition-moderate-centrist

“…terms like “moderate,” “centrist” or “democrat” are not used in media to refer to any particular political outlook, but rather are used as a framing mechanism to convey the media’s approval…In contrast, those media disapprove of will be denied such titles. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is dismissed as part of the “loony left” and Bernie Sanders is described as “far-left” … these sorts of politicians are never going to be granted the “moderate” seal of approval…”

People here know I have a thing about the BBC’s bias.

“The BBC’s director general has admitted that the corporation’s reputation as a provider of impartial news has taken a hit in recent years…”

    He pledges promises to improve…

Meanwhile morning local radio news is being cut

So the Russian media is less trustworthy than the British…a plague on them all.

RT and Sputnik news agencies have been banned from attending the conference on media freedom – a bit of irony there. Around 60 ministers and 1,000 reporters and members of civil society are due to attend the event this week. But the UK Foreign Office refused accreditation to both RT and Sputnik.
