"Mr Carney praised the UK's workers, who had not "given up" during the recession, accepting pay cuts or shorter hours. This had helped account for a lower rate of unemployment than seen in other European countries."

What could he mean by his reference to not "given up"? Not laying down to die? Not striking and protesting too much? Not starting a revolution? Or taking austerity, pay cuts, pay freezes and job losses on the chin, like meek working class lambs to the slaughter?

Considering that a worker would get fuck all, off our "betters" if they resigned due to a cut in pay, or working hours, or conditions at their place of employment really, are workers "plucky" and accept these reduced facts of employment, or have they merely accepted the "fait accompli" and the threats implicit?
