I’m not sure how well know he was around these parts, but James C Scott’s ‘Seeing Like a State’ is very high up on my list of books to recommend to people. All of the book should be of interest to people here, not least his account of the controversy between Luxemburg and Lenin and the different conceptions of revolution they each represented.
